The Six String Jets come out rockets blazing on this new four song 7". Treading similar sonic ground to their pals the Angel Sluts, these guys definitely try their damnedest to ensure your head gets completely separated from your shoulders as you’re having a good time rocking out. Rest assured, this platter does succeed on that count.
While Angel Sluts comparisons are inevitable, the Six String Jets have even more in common with bands like the Oblivians and Mullens. Cuts like "Savage Beat" and "Getaway" have an unforgiving brutality to them without ever losing focus on fun. This stuff is going to kill you and make you grin.
Lyrically, it’s very clear the Six String Jets have chicks on the brain. This fact likely accounts for a great deal of the urgency that holds these songs up. It also helps raise the fun and funny quotients as evidenced on "Mr. Airplane Man." With lines like "Mr. Airplane Man/how’d you get so pretty/Mr. Airplane Man/where’d you get those titties," you’d have to be one uptight piece of misery not to chuckle.
Bottom line: this is well-written, well-executed punk rock n’ roll that is very worth your time. The Six String Jets bring it so fierce here, this disc is sure to make the highest end of audiophile speakers sound blown out. That, in itself, should bring a smile to your face. As killer onstage as on wax, go raise a beer for these guys if they’re ever in your area. On both counts, if you weren’t hip before, it’s time to join the party.

Four songs from these Memphis sleazy rockers. Fast and out of control rock ‘n’ roll with a touch of glam and cool gaudy vocals. At times they remind me slightly of the SODA POP KIDS but mixed with the straightforwardness of the RAMONES. Nice and fast pace with a good dose of tastelessness these dirty fuckers deliver an acute attack and there’s no fucking around, they keep shit moving and vigorously. This blend of big riff rock n roll and punk rock spit has got me.

Chock full of the most ancient rock’n’roll clichés, these young morons almost pull these songs off. “Savage Beat” has the line “King of the jungle I’m a wild eyed savage beast/I’m a hungry for love and baby you’re the feast.” So dumb, it’s almost retarded. The lyrics are sung in exaggerated Alex Chilton fashion. I applaud their spirit, but I’m lukewarm to their execution. –Josh Benke
