"The old school is the only school. You either went to school or didn't," is how Dan Rola, lead singer of Strides, describes the group's retro sound. Raised on much of the soul, R&B, gospel, and rock of the 60s and 70s, it's only logical that it would all influence the music he now plays and writes. Fortunately, Rola was able to convince pianist, Daniel Le, bassist, Mariano Dowgaluk, and drummer Jonathan Sondreal to join him on this musical journey. Being that Rola, Le, and Dowgaluk were old college friends, it took little effort to get them on board. Strides takes great pride in the music the play and have a great respect for the musicians that have paved the way before them. Their sound takes much from 60's soul and R&B as well as 70s funk with some reggae and roots rock to round it all out.
