The Yank Sizzler (might be Michael)'s Blurbs
About me:
I'm Michael and this page is supplemental to my podcast The Yank Sizzler. The show is initially inspired by what John Peel accomplished in popular music. He was a BBC Radio 1 DJ who broke down all commercial and categorical barriers in music and played what he loved. And because of that, he exposed millions (really, millions) of listeners around the world to an amazing amount of music. Without him, the landscape of popular music wouldn't be the same.

That said, the show isn't indulgently about him. It's about music, all kinds of music. You'll hear punk, jazz, blues, folk, rock, indie, post punk, alternative, electronica, and everything under the sun all together in one big happy family like music should be. The music will be both new and old because a blues song recorded in 1933 is just as exciting as the newest brilliant number from your favorite indie band. There will always be special treats of unreleased material, live cuts, and out of print treasures.

Give it a listen. For most, it will be an introduction to some amazing material.

The podcast aside, I'm a KU grad living in lovely Lawrence, KS. Originally I'm from Jetmore, KS (size = 800 people and shrinking). I enjoy good conversation, food, reading, filmmaking, alcohol and my amazing friends.

Also, I inherently believe in a mixtape-based economy. Money schmuny. Mixtapes are the real gold. And of course it breaks down accordingly. Mixtapes that contain only top forty hits of today (unless ironically humorous) are the equivalent of gutter pennies. However super obscure tapes made of nothing but Japanese release b-sides are the same as trying to use hundred dollar bills to buy things. No one accepts them and no one breaks em.

Mix it up well and you got a twenty-dollar piece of currency.

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6!

Who I'd like to meet:
Music fans who love to hear something different from time to time and of course the people creating the music to be heard today.

It's raining again and my heart grows heavier with every drop that soaks the blackness of my soul.
Ok, I admit it, I couldn't write that with a straight face. I guess I need more practice.

Dude, I totally just used the shit out of those new tongs. The tongage was insane. My chicken was all like "you're totally gonna burn your fingers" and I was all like "talk to the tongs, bitch". It was so awesome. Awesome to the max!

I don't think it's pathetic that that was the highlight of my day. Word.

This post has nothing to do with music ... I'm embedding with a brigade in the California desert for a week starting on Sunday. If I'm not back in seven days, send the cavalry. Fuck, I'll be with the cavalry ...

Glad you stopped by; hope you liked what you heard. Be sure to drop by, again....we'll be adding new songs to the page as our anticipated October release approaches! We're happy to say that we've put together a tribute to a great man and artist, Grant McLennan, that is worthy of everything he gave us during his time with The Go-Betweens as well as during his solo career.

Cheers!
