   About tindersticks

It hardly seems like a year since we released the Hungry Saw album in April 2008, tentatively re-dipping our collective toes back in the Tindersticks pool. But it is! After a fanastic period of shows we felt a real warmth from everyone who came to see us play over the months that followed the album.

Now we're back in songwriting mode with the intention of releasing a new record in 2010 - it's fantastic to feel the momentum that's built back up again thanks to everyone's support. It's really driving us to make sure that the next album matches up to everyone's expectations!

In the meantime we'll try and pepper the rest of 2009 with some shows, because nothing feels more right at the moment than playing our songs in front of a live audience. Hope to see you soon. ============================================

Martin Wallace filmed Stuart doing a special acoustic performance of the single 'Hungry Saw' at Le Chien Chanceux:

Thought the Hyde Park gig was great, best I've seen the band in a long time. I'm glad I decided to go, it was well worth it.

On Tindersticks... 7/24/2006
It’s midnight. I’m listening to the only Tindersticks album I own and it is wonderful. I’m in Los Angeles, just got back. It’s 80 degrees outside and I’m writing a paper on the realities of multi-culturalism in France as depicted in the film La Haine, but my thoughts are clearly elsewhere.
I’m hoping B responds to my message:
“It’s fucking hot... We should go swimming.”
...Meanwhile, Stuart Staples’ unsteady baritone is tugging at a me and I feel a little memory start to bubble up. I feel it in my temples, moving toward the corners of my eyes, hovering on the edge of thought and emotion.
I remember when this album came across my way. It was my Freshman year at Seattle University. They were having a club day and 50 or so university clubs had folding tables set up in some banquet-lecture-multi-purpose room on campus. I started walking around and soon spotted the indie kids with their black sweatshirts and buttons over at the KSUB radio station table. I probably wouldn’t have approached if it weren’t for all the free CDs they were giving away, but I saw pay dirt and started perusing. I came across a few interesting albums... the Eskimos, an album called Golden Apple Hits, a band or album with the word magnetic in it (not the Fields), and Tindersticks.
