Jamie Miyares: piano and voice; Louis Botta: Fender jazzmaster guitar; Bart Moyers: drums and so much more
Influences
guided by voices, seam, sonic youth, slint, blond redhead, belle & sebastian, lou barlow, stereolab, portishead, my bloody valentine, surf guitar in general and red wine from Wine Authorities in Durham
We've played in bands in both the Triad and Triangle for a little more than a decade. Jamie Miyares(piano and vocals) is a transplant to Durham from Winston-Salem where she was a member of local faves tommygun. Louis Botta(Jazz Master Guitar) and Bart Moyers(drums) played together in Chapel Hill's William Christ Supercar. Dan Grinder of Raleigh's Gray Young played bass on the record. Our wonderfully gorgeous artwork is courtesy of Ron Liberti.
Bettie Lane, our debut CD EP, can be found at finer indie shops, direct from our label, Fractured Discs, or from online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, Napster and many others.
"casts the crystalline voice of Jamie Miyares in ascendant arches of consonant piano and intricate guitar, like Blonde Redhead scoring a silent travelogue about rushing along the Audubon and waking up on big airplanes." Grayson Currin, The Independent
Here's a photo from your cd show at The Cave a couple of weeks ago. It's one of a few that I'll post in the next day or so on myspace. In the meantime, the whole gallery is at http://www.fotki.com/templesofgrey . Hope you and fans who weren't able to make the show enjoy the photos. Y'all sounded great!
Jamie, I didn't remember knowing you were with Tommygun until I read y'all's page. Did you play the Cat's Cradle show two years ago with Maple Stave and fan-tan?
When I'm on myspace, I always have several different windows open. If I've got your page open and False Friends comes up, I go NUTS clicking back through pages to recall WHO THIS IS/ WHOSE PAGE IS PLAYING THIS. And I immediately want to feature you as the lead song on my profile playlist. But, Noooooooooooooo, you don't currently have that option available.
So I'm launching a formal temper tantrum. [Imagine peanuts, cd's, cameras, coffee cups, hair, etc. being hurled throughout my small study. Ouuuu, ugly, ugly.] [[grin.]] PLEEEEASE change the settings so that anyone dropping by my page will hear this fantastic song and think it's me.
You guys were the best loudest quiet band ever at the Obama rally. I really like your music, and look forward to a REAL show with you guys. Hope to see you soon, mimi
