We have also had the pleasure of working with a number of other artists - local ones we would like to mention include Miss Liability, Humane Kondition and The Lost and Found (gone, but not forgotten).
Our influences are too many and varied to be documented here.
Mark grew up through the birth of Electro, Ska and the so-called "Mod" movement in the UK. Easy grooves, Studio One, Dub reggae, funk and soul all influence his sound and style.
Darryl has a passion for dance and dub and a true love of works by the great reggae partnership Sly and Robbie and producer Lee Scratch Perry, and these influences are often found in his tracks. (Acid Generation)
Vinny has a real thing for drum and bass and hard dance styles and is the latest member of InspiredFunk - keep your eyes open for Rough Justice.
Delroy is from the Carribean, and has a passion for Reggae music in all its forms. As a front man for Da Vinci and Skanga Sound systems, he is an engaging performer.
Stevie Wonder - one of the greatest musicians of my lifetime. The concept album "Songs in the Key of Life" is still an endless source of pleasure and inspiration. "Superstition" is, in our opinion, on of the greatest funk tracks around - and on the original pressing, Stevie played the drums too!!
Adamski - a personal favourite of Darryl (AcidGeneration), leading the way with electronic music, opening up a whole new genre - one of the originators.
Sly and Robbie - one of the greatest partnerships in reggae music - incredible timing and rhythm have made them responsible for some of the greated riddims!
Bernard Purdie - the drummer of a funk generation - the Funky Drummer himself.
Sounds Like
I am not sure what the InspiredFunk sound is. I know that it has a lot of influences that range from some of the greats mentioned above, to the bands and artists I am working with and listening too today.
I think the music is more about the sentiment - the way I am, or was feeling, at the time of the initial creation - although, sometimes the creative process is like being slapped round the head!!
