Through a mutual love of good music and cheap booze, Tramp Attack were formed on the cusp of the millenium in the cauldron of depravity known as 16 Earl Road.
Founder member and chief songwriter Matt Barton joined forces with housemates Ian Lane (drums) and Chris Marshall (bass) along with Barry Southern (lead guitar) to make music to put a tap in the toes and a glow in the bellies of boys and girls of all ages.
Soon developing a knack for crafting short, sharp pop songs inspired by the likes of Jonathan Richman and Richie Valens through Prince Buster and Otis Redding, they soon laaunched themselves upon Liverpool’s live music circuit and gained an instant cult following.
Frequent trips outside of the city soon led to the band being signed by Must Destroy who released the album "Attack! Attack!! Attack!!!" in 2003 along with the singles " Eight Years Since School", "Oh! When The Sun Goes Down" and "1-4-7-1".
Replacing the frenzied, garage style of "Attack!...", the bands new sound takes a more acoustic based approach (utilizing double bass, banjo and kazoos) whilst maintaning the formula of two minute, sing-alonga songs of disappointment, death, despair and, of course, sweet, sweet love.
"Here’s a band that you can’t fail to have a good time with, and that’s something of a promise...Tramp Attack have taken the country/rock blueprint and updated it with humour, style and a sense of the absurd." CD Times
"It’s like if Love or The Monks or Hank Williams were slightly less tortured and slightly more mates from school." Plan B Magazine
"Seminal fathers of the Liverpool scene, the Liverpool bands’ favourite band." NME
"Tramp Attack take the old, fuse it with the everyday, refract it through a prism and send shards of light into the future. They also move the hips like no tramp could." www.moles.co.uk
