Unbalanced Jack is a dubstep crossover act that also delves into breakbeat and jungle beats. Taking a fresh approach to dubstep & nu-skool breaks production without the use of samples and concentrating on full vocal tracks with new UK talent, has helped Unbalanced Jack establish a name for themselves with the top producers and DJs in the scene. Current releases have received huge radio & club support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1), Icey, Tayo (Radio 1 FM), Jay Cunning (Kiss FM) Dreadzone, The Autobots, Rennie Pilgrem, CTRL-Z, The Freestylers & The Prodigy. 2008 saw Unbalanced Jack’s massive Flaming Tongues track to the Broke Records ‘Ends Of The Earth’ album, plus remix work for Deekline & Wizard, Functional label & Dreadzone; with gigs across the UK & Europe.
The DJ & Production team consists of Chris Pope (DJ & veteran Promoter) & Rob Groves (Engineer & visuals). In 2009 shows will consist of DJ, Soundsystem or 9 piece band featuring DJ, 3 MCs, Visuals & fully live band. Unbalanced Jack has worked with many of Manchester's hottest young talents from MCs to DJs and other Producers, pushing boundaries for new dance music. Chris is responsible for reputable 8 year old Nowt But Breaks & Sourpuss clubnights which many of the UK’s top dance acts & DJ Mag have hailed as one of the best events in the UK; hosting most of the UK’s top dance artists over the years.
Through weekly ibreaks & dubterrain.net radio shows and spinning diverse DJ sets Unbalanced Jack are now monthly resident at Manchester's biggest Bass event, Dubspot alongside Zed Bias & the rest of the Sidestepper Records family. Chris has also worked as resident at Manchester's longest running monthly breaks night (winner of Best Small Club @ Breakspoll 08), Fuse, Crash (jungle/dubstep event) & has secured ongoing future work with Fabrica in Romania.
