Under the Wake is a heavy metal quintet from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Since its creation in early 2005, the group has continuously grown and evolved as musicians to create their own blend of thrash, progressive, and melodic metal. With a broad spectrum of influences, the band strives to create a sound that is technical, while maintaining intensity.

“A Frail Grip on Reality,” UTW’s new release, delivers thunderous and memorable riffs comparable to modern bands such as Chimaira and Lamb of God. The group’s captivating and harmonizing vocals are akin to styles that launched Killswitch Engage and All That Remains to fame. UTW’s lyrics focus deftly on private and political affairs, persuading listeners to contemplate issues that are at once both personal and global.

2007 brought a wealth of success to UTW. Owing to their loyal fans and blistering live performances, the group was named Best New Performer in a reader’s poll conducted by WhatzUp Magazine, a Fort Wayne-based entertainment publication. The win marked UTW as the first original metal act to walk away with this honor in the poll’s seven year history. Riding the momentum of this accomplishment, Under the Wake has high ambitions of making an impact on their increasing fan base and on headbangers across the United States and beyond.
