UNSOUND NYC was founded at THE LUCKY CAT in September 2006 by Lee (AKA Leech of Navicon Torture Technologies and the ANNIHILVS label) and Tara (AKA Sickrobot).
After we relocated to THE PUSSYCAT LOUNGE in January 2007, Jeff (DJ Tenebre) became a full time partner when Tara was no longer able to contribute.
In time, we joined forces with Sean Cummings and Justin Morales of THTFL for our last few shows at this venue, finally moving to FONTANA'S as of August 2008.
UNEARTHLY TRANCE became the 'Unofficial UNSOUND House Band' due to their appearing live at several UNSOUND-related events. UT bassist Jay Newman (and drummer Darren Verni) also lent invaluable logistical assistance on a number of occasions.
Brooklyn-based label THE END RECORDS sponsored the final three UNSOUND NYC events of 2008. We had planned a return in March 2009 after a winter hiatus, but due to personal issues in each of the partners' lives, we were forced to extend that hiatus indefinitely. UNSOUND NYC is seeking a new home and a new beginning, with new friends, partners and contributors welcome to join us in our efforts to continue to bring great obscure music to the live stage in NYC. Sponsorships welcome!
The following is a complete list of UNSOUND NYC events.
