| About DETRIMENT |
This band started out with a few quotes from The Big Lebowski and three solid guys who wanted to play heavy music that grooved. Patrick Moseley started playing drums, and the next weekend we formed. I go up to Patty and say, hey man, "lets play some Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel songs. I can do an evil death growl." We played that weekend, and we decided to become a southern metal band right there. We worked every weekend for the next 2 years playing and getting our instrumental parts down tight. Vocals came last in the mix. During these two years we played opening shows and eventually got to the point to where we were playing third or fourth in sets. We played a few shows with as little as twenty people in front of us. We always gave it 100% no matter what. That's what we do man. If you come see us, we will never be giving it 50%, or just 90%. It's balls out every show. We continued playing shows and got really into a point to where we were trapped in a sound that we couldn't escape. Finally, everything changed with the entrance of Hunter Thompson. We as musicians had the ability to play just about anything we wanted, it was just a matter of picking a solid foundation and being able to expand on it. We had already developed a sound, but we couldn't expand on it much longer. Hunter brought a new style to the table. With the addition, Hunter, Ben, Patrick, and myself were able to fuse a whole new perspective onto what we were already doing. We are a southern-groove metalcore band. We are Detriment.
Half of Detriment live on the other side of the state at this point, and we are trying our best to do shows whenever we can, but we're not done yet.......
