Dear Mike: The Lone Maledick, (below)

Where to begin? First, for some reason, I prefer the term humans as opposed to creatures for some reason. Perhaps I'm being hyper-sensitive. I mean, it's not like I'm called a chick, pussy, rabbit, beaver or bitch daily. It happens at least three times a day.

Regarding your idea of modern women and their highly selective nature- according to the media, the modern woman is highly suspect (think Pam Anderson). By far, it's largely women who are held to unreachable 'picturesque' standards. Check the stats on anorexia, bulemia and plastic surgery if you're in doubt or just look at the ads on myspace. OR, pick up a people magazine. This month features Drew Barrymore and reads "New Body, New Love!" Yey! The reality is, in a patriarchal, racist and classist society, women have very few choices in various contexts. I don't have room to get into all of the situations but if you're any indication of the pool of men that women have to choose from in a sexual context, I'd say we're screwed. BUT, I do appreciate the acknowledgement that women have sex drives as well but I must say, comments like yours are a buzz kill.

As far as men having psycho-sexual problems from not having sex, you're definitely a psycho, but it's not from lack of sex. Men rape, objectify, buy, abuse, and harass women because their masculinity is dependent upon the degradation of them.

Last but not least you write " So, it's better to pay for sex from someone looking to be paid for it, then to get it in more forceful ways." Interesting, because it seems that in many instances, both situations are one and the same. Now stop looking for a kick in the balls.... unless you're looking to get paid for it.

In response to Tomek, Catharine MacKinnon has suggested that pornography IS prostitution (not just for the rich). It's simply another way that women are bought and sold for sex.

I got the porn is prostitution for rich people thought when my friends and I were discussing why we thought a rich and/or famous guy would go get a prostitute - and I think it's because it's a form of porn to them. they see prostitutes not as human but as an expensive and in a way high class sex toy. something you can afford if you have money, but that you keep hush

yeah, I think it's obvious - though some people argue that prostitution is the selling of a service not a body - and I kind of see their point, but I disagree with their next point of it being not a part of sexism because we don't live in a vaccume. I also think prostitution is pornography for rich people.

Your argument appears to me to boil down to "give us sex or we will go crazy and rape you GRAH." Which is 1) insulting to men, who are viewed as unable to control themselves at all, and 2) not actually true.

Oh wow, Mike. Thanks for revealing your stripes, Tiger.

1) "The modern woman" is not a category into which you can put every person you resent for having a vagina and not letting you come in it. Please refrain from making gross generalizations about all women everywhere, as I attempt regularly to show men the same respect. You sound nostalgic for some sort of fabled past in which women were "less selective," which I can see would be advantageous for you.

2) Has it occured to you that many men are selective as well? I honestly believe it is completely possible for 99.9% of the population to get laid and that the men who complain that they can't tend to be going after the wrong women. Certainly, the men who saw me when I was an escort never described any difficulty finding someone who was willing to have sex with them, just a dearth of nineteen year olds who fit into that category.

3) Who died and made you king of feminism? What are you basing the idea that "feminism is waning" on except for anti-feminist news articles that support your view and attempt to stifle women's voices by declaring their movement over? I could point to just as many articles proving you wrong, or I could, you know, point to the large number of young feminists. (They exist, they just don't speak to you, and I can see why.)

4) What I keep saying and what you seem determined to ignore is that there are plenty of men who don't get laid and fail to rape anybody, which sort of disproves your theory that containing your sexual urges is impossible for men and should be treated as such. Yes, not having sex sucks, but it doesn't turn you into a rapist. It might warp you, but you have to start out pretty warped to want to rape somebody. It might be uncomfortable, but discomfort is no excuse to rape somebody, or even to see a woman who is going to be severely traumatized by the experience of letting you pay her for sex.

Your argument appe

Absoultely, becuase the modern woman is highly selective and if you don't fit her picturesque profile of what she's looking for, then you're not getting any. Women are complex creatures and have quxotic standards for mates/partners. This is becuase feminism is waning, not dead mind you. You don't understand that if men do not fornicate that they devlop psychosexual problems. So, it's better to pay for sex from someone looking to be paid for it, then to get it in more forceful ways.

Dear Mike, I've posted a more thorough and polite response to your own profile, but to be honest, I can't be bothered to be so friendly here.

I never advocated for the criminalization of prostitution. You need to 1) read and 2) stop putting words in my mouth.

I've also read some of your blogs, and I also disagree with you. Yes pimps and the culture of glorifing pimps should end, but prostitution is allready illegal in 49 states and it isn't stopping prostitution anytime soon becuase it's the world's oldest profession. So, as long as there are men who aren't getting any and there are women who use their bodies to get what they want; I don't think prostitution will end.

Well, not exactly. What I tend to believe is that when prostitution is illegal, the punishment falls disproportionately on the prostitutes (who I see as the victims) rather than those who are seeing them. Enforcing the law turns into slut-shaming and slut-bashing for its own sake on the part of the pigs.

If prostitution were not illegal, as I suggest, then I suppose it would be rather hard to punish the clients for it either. I'd rather educate them anyway. (Well, I'd rather kick them really hard, but I'm sure the world would be a better place if they were educated.)

As for pimps, yes. I do think that pimps deserve everything that LE could possibly do to them, not because they are involved with the sex trade per se, but because the prostitute-pimp relationship is usually such that they are involved with sex slavery. And kidnapping people so that they can be your sex slave is really really bad.

Thanks for the add. I read one of your blogs (the one about whether prostitution should be illegal or not). And, I must say, I kinda disagree with you. I think that neither the prostitute, nor the john, nor even the pimp, should be charged with a crime. If I'm reading what you wrote correctly, you believe that only the prostitute should not be arrested, but that the others should. Am I reading that correctly?
