Widescreen Mode had an exploding start to their career last year with their debut full-length "Until The End". The band is now close to finishing the recordings of their sophomore album. The new metal monster, entitled "The Hanging Man", is set to be released April 8th.
"The Hanging Man" reveals more aggressive and versatile side of Widescreen Mode than its' predecessor. The concept of the new album was built on the road as the band played shows at the Finnish summer festivals. Musically "The Hanging Man" is return to their roots.
"While touring we started to scavenge the dusty corners of our record collections and listened to all the gems from Testament, Sepultura and Slayer for example. We decided to make a total detachment to our old routines and move into some darker grounds and do something really surprising. The old elements are still there but in the arrangements we really let the demons loose.", says drummer Janne Aaltonen.
"The Hanging Man" was recorded together with producers Jani Loikas and Aksu Hanttu (Entwine, Poisonblack...) in various studios including Petrax and Sonic Pump Studio. The album is mixed by Aksu Hanttu and mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers.
As a first glimpse to the new material Widescreen Mode releases a digital single "Serotonin" that can be found from the digital shops February 20th. The band also shot a music video to "Serotonin" together with director Markus Aaltonen. The income from the single sales will be given to charity supporting the youth mental healthcare.
Says Aaltonen, "The idea of the song started out from the lyrical concept. Many deal with issues of serious deppression not noticed by the people surrounding them. We are all slaves of this transmitter ruling our brains. The song might not be the one to portray the whole package but it definately creates a certain bridge between the previous album and the new one."
