Tools for Tales, Xavier Padilla's first record as a leader, is still waiting for a free, discerning and non stereotype-dependant label to get it out. It includes 32 musicians and consists of 15 originals (76 minutes). Xavier played electric bass, composed and arranged all the music. Xavier says: "I'm interested in everything, but especially good music, made by real people. I'm also interested, well... "concerned" may be a better word, about the uncertain times our world is now going through: many things are plainly wrong and we should be doing something about it. I think the best way is that everybody (... well, that isn't obviously going to happen, but 'say at least "as many humans as possible") use common sense now: we just can't keep killing nature, children and polluting the air under any circumstance anymore. There is nothing (NOTHING) out there that justifies such an outrageous nonsense. The world can't endure anymore our worthless apologies upon killing and destroying. We have, or should have already learned from past eras and great men and women how to live in harmony; yeah, we have been given the opportunity. But logically THE time has arrived: either we prove the right behaviour now, or we'll loose everything for always. This is not a mystic prophecy, it's pure math folks. What a shame that we are at such a large extinction risk when the world is richer than it has ever been..."

I can't say what it would sound like to you, for me it sounds like what I hear in my head. A friend told me it would most probably sound to anyone like music...
Bass player, composer and arranger, XAVIER PADILLA was born in Caracas, Venezuela, where from early as 18 started a career as a sideman for well known local artists. Early experiences in Venezuela include award wining group AUTANA, salsa queen CELIA CRUZ, composer-conductor ALDEMARO ROMERO and GUACO's leader & arranger RICARDO HERNÁNDEZ. At age 25 he moved over to Europe in search for new horizons. He spent five years in Germany, then four in Greece and ultimately established in France, where he lives since 1997. His varied experience makes him a versatile musician, equally confortable as a bassist, composer and arranger in a number of different styles, from jazz to salsa, from rock to pop —or anything in between—. A musical background based on diversity always allows for a natural blend of musical genres, and results —when it's time for personal statements— in a distinctive artistic signature. This seems to be the case with XAVIER PADILLA, as can be heard in his solo record "Tools for Tales" (unfortunately still on the look-struggle for a record deal). XAVIER takes part in the varied Parisian scene, and has either played, arranged or composed for the GIPSY KINGS, BERNARD LAVILLIERS, JEFF GARDNER, DANY BRILLANT, JULIEN LOURAU, ALFREDO RODRÍGUEZ, MARIO REYES, MALIK BELILI, as well as for ORLANDO POLEO, ALFREDO "CUTUFLÁ" FRANCHESKI, JAVIER PLAZA, and French progressive rock group TAÏ PHONG. His international background includes recording and touring with artists such as DUNKEL ZIFFER, CONEXIÓN LATINA, SENTA BERGER (Germany); POLIKANDRIOTIS, PIX-LAX, PANDELIS BENETATOS, IANNIS STAVROPOULOS (Greece); JULIA MIGENES, TITO ALLEN, CELIA CRUZ (USA); GAROU (Canada). From 2001 to 2005 he composed lyrics for and toured worldwide as a bassist with GIPSY KINGS.
