Sounds Like
We have, at different times and by diffferent people, been likened to: Radiohead, British Sea Power, Jeff Buckley, Placebo, Interpol, Muse, Coldplay, PJ Harvey, The Cure, Nirvana, Supergrass, Arcade Fire, Waterboys, Sigur Ros, The Smiths amongst others... Some of these we agree with. Some we don't.
Here's what some people have said:
Press:
"A three-headed colossus of power and poise that seems just as happy punking things up as they are performing mini-cinematic operas" Drowned in Sound
"This trio just ooze confidence as they command and bound around the stage with heart rendering energy. They have an expansive sound and passionate singer who has a masterful band with masterful songs." Yorkshire Evening Post
"Samsa are a delight. This band truly do have all the makings of a classic alt. rock band. Really great tunes, a stunning display of intensity, and they make a big noise. " Tom Goodhand, Sandman Magazine
"original, constantly changing and damn catchy" Glasswerk
"...this is another big track that should have any A&R person worth their salt, wetting their underwear by the end of first bar" Manchester Music
"...if you've got a good song, that's all you need -and thankfully Samsa have a whole set of them" Leedsmusicscene
"Samsa's songs are the musical equivalent of having a military testing base next to a fireworks factory a series of small tightly controlled explosions wrought with an impending sense of danger knowing that any minute they threaten to career out of control into one almighty cataclysmic bang. Which they frequently do." Whisperin & Hollerin
BIOG:
Samsa are a 3-piece band from Leeds, West Yorkshire. Over the last year they've been featured on Dance To The Radio's 'What We All Want' album, shared the stage with Forward Russia, iLiKETRAiNS, Duels, The Duke Spirit, The Young Knives, Pigeon Detectives, Oceansize and many more. They've been championed by the likes of Steve Lamaqc (who made First, The Lights his unsigned choice of the week), Claire Sturgess on XFM, and recieved a stream of glowing press nationwide.
Since John Peel championed their debut single in summer 2004, a limited edition 7 called Quiet Places on Leeds label Mook Records (stepping stone to The Cribs, and many more), The band who began their exploits in the heart of native Cumbria, have become a formidable element of the live scene in Leeds, as well as being regulars at London's Club Fandango.

This is a rather good single that caused me to trawl through all my Leeds compilations and discover that I have quite a few Samsa songs and that they are all actually rather good. Looking forward to seeing you live soon.
