December 1 is World AIDS Day—an opportunity for us to work together to help reduce stigma around HIV and promote HIV Testing. Here's how you can join us in Facing AIDS in 3 easy steps:
Take a Photo. Download a Facing AIDS sign (PDF 157 KB) and tell us why you are Facing AIDS. Then take a photo of yourself wearing a red ribbon with your sign and upload it to our Flickr group.
Change your Social Network Profile Picture and Status. On December 1 change your social network profile picture to your Facing AIDS photo and your status to: "[Your Name] is Facing AIDS for World AIDS Day. To find an HIV test site, text your ZIP to "KNOWIT" (566948), or visit www.HIVtest.org. Join me and post this to your status today."
Share. Ask your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors to join the Campaign-add a Facing AIDS web badge to your profile, blog, or website.

June 27 was National HIV Testing Day. President Obama released a special video message about the importance of HIV testing in honor of National HIV Testing Day.
You can take action and take control in response to HIV/AIDS:
get tested for HIV
practice safer methods to prevent HIV
decide not to engage in high risk behaviors
talk about HIV prevention with family, friends, and coworkers
provide support to people living with HIV/AIDS
get involved with or host an event for one of the HIV/AIDS Awareness Days (listed above)
promote an HIV testing web badge on your MySpace or other social networking profiles or websites
send us a message to let us how you’re taking control and taking action
find out how else you can Act Against AIDS (a new campaign from the White House, CDC and HHS).
I am writing to let you know that I have registered for AIDS Walk New York 2009 and am very excited about the event. With the generous support of people like you, we raised: $1,200 for the Aids Walk New York 2008! It was a pleasure to walk, and be a representative to those who could not join us!!!!

Thanks to all of our new friends on MySpace- we're busy registering attendees for The National Conference on Latinos and AIDS. I am interested in knowing what kinds of information that YOU, as a patient (even if you are not HIV+) would like to have your DOCTOR know more about! We have many Transgender frirnds out there who report that they are treated poorly by many in the medical professions. Our Trans friends say that it is the result of Doctors not understanding the transgender process, the community norms, and the patients histories are often intermingled with ABUSE as a background. Any insights that you share I will keep in confidence, and we will incorporate them into our planned curriculum.
