Hi. My name is Amalie Riis. I am 22 years old and I am a Danish singer/songwriter. I live in Malmö, Sweden, with my husband. (This is due to a Danish law, which prevents any Dane under the age of 24, to bring their non-EU-member-spouse into the country. Interesting law, right? I guess it's just not so practical to fall in love with an American.)

When I was 15 I made my first demo and ever since, I've been playing my songs live at concerts. I mostly play solo gigs (guitar and singing) but whenever I can, I bring my fabulous band! (Andreas Lund, Mette Skou, Alexander Kraglund, Jonas Dueholm og Terkel Rimmer Hansen)
In 2005 my first band and I put out the album “Places Where We Go” (produced by Jacob Horney and Jon Kruse). Since then I've been playing my songs, solo and with musicians, all around, near and far, for whoever was willing to listen. At the moment I am studying music, playing concerts and promoting my second album "Safe and Sound" (produced by Morten Maltesen) which came out in Denmark, in April 2008. It was also released in Sweden and later this year in Holland. I have been so fortunate that the Danish radio station p4, is playing my music, as well as some roots stations in Holland, Belgium and USA (GO INDIE ARTISTS!!). I write songs mostly in English, but I secretly plan to put out a Danish album at some point. The music is a mix between folk/Americana and pop.
My favorite gig is a house concert in a private home. Second runner up is at a cosy café where people are there to have a good time and to hear a good song. I love travelling and most of my childhood I spent on the road with my mother, who is also a songwriter. My songs are inspired by my journyes - big and small, love and life and everything in between. I recently signed with the Danish label, Songcrafter, on which my album has been released.
