Amber Streams is a project started by Arjen Witteveen in 2005. Beginning as a one-man band, Arjen was in charge of all the music writing, music of a progressive nature, with its roots in metal. Atmospheric, heavy-layered parts dominate in Amber Streams' music, whether it is an epic heavy part or a soothing acoustic one. In February 2007, Wouter joined the band. With him handling the basslines, Amber Streams is now a two-piece.
Yeah sometimes I think my voice is pretty good, other times I just think about making it all instrumental! I'm going to have a bash at doing some harsher vocals too, but to be honest I think going sparse is the best way with the lyrics. I've just recorded a cover of Insomnium's 'The Gale' and realised I still have a fair way to go with my micing and mixing skills before I'm ready to commit to a demo CD.
Sorry for the late reply man, I've been finishing up at Uni. I've been back a few days now and recording most of the time. Still spending a lot of time just honing my recording process, which is cool but its taking time away from playing. The AT3035 has worked out so well though. My first attempt at recording Acoustic went really well. One tip I'd say that makes a big difference is using parallel compression on acoustic, it really fattens up the sound and overcomes the thinness of a single mic. I've remixed one of my songs and its up on the page now, but it'll be a month or two before I have any songs for the Demo. What kind of vocal style are you going for?
Arjen, rude and impatient is good, i need the push! The album is coming along alright: Lead guitars and vocals left to be recorded, so bass, keys, rhythm guitars, acoustic guitars and drums have all been finished. It'll still be a while off though unfortunately. Working life seems to be getting in the way, which is less than ideal but unavoidable for now (until i can make a living from music!). What is recorded is sounding good anyway
Hope things are well for you. Definitely keep me updated as you get new songs recorded, especially if there's some vocals in there.

Hey Arjen, i listened to the tracks and i'm really impressed. The mix is good, there's room for improvement (eg. drums get lost a bit) but in general it sounds and feels right. The guitar sound surprises me for that little V-Amp!
Well written track, i thoroughly enjoy listening to it. Keep it up!
As for me, bass might be pushed back to next week, still have more drum editing to do as it is. It's going well though.
