Aphotic Dawn first started out in 2004 when guitarist James Lowe began writing and recording demo material for his own solo project. 2 years later in 2006, Lowe came to realise that he wanted others to hear this music and decided it was time to recruit members in order to change from a solo project, into what would soon become a 4 piece metal act.
After handing out a demo CD at a number of local gigs, Lowe soon received word from the highly talented duo of Brendan Brown (Bass) and Daniel Presland (Drums), whom had already been playing together for some time, that they were willing to join the band and were more than capable of the playing the high speed material. However, it would be over 12 months before Aphotic Dawn would start jamming regularly and find the bands lead singer. Over this time, Aphotic Dawn would go through 4 different vocalist changes, until Ben Boyle, a long time friend of Presland’s, would join in August 2007.
A few months later, November 2007 would then see Aphotic Dawn hit the live scene for the first time in front of a packed audience. Since their debut, they have since headlined their own shows, as well as supported international and local metal acts such as Morbid Angel, Kataklysm and Psycroptic.
Aphotic Dawn are now in the process of writing material for their debut album to be recorded and released sometime in the near future.
