Over 230 artists in the 'Art + Anarchy Montreal 2007'

Canada's largest political art show ever - the 'Art + Anarchy Montreal 2007' exhibit - featuring 300 pieces of work from over 230 politically engaged visual artists from around the world will take place May 3 - 13, at the Esplanade Loft Project 6750 Esplanade, as part of Montreal's month-long 'Festival of Anarchy' and the 8th annual Montreal Anarchist Bookfair. The exhibit will be housed in a spacious 5,000 square foot temporary new loft gallery in the city's Mile End district. It will display dozens of photos, installations, paintings, sculptures, sketches, etchings, art videos, cartoons, etc., from more than 40 politically engaged artists - established and emerging - from Montreal, across Canada, the USA and abroad. The pieces will complement an existing celebrated travelling exhibit ('Paper Politics' ) of 195 international politically and socially engaged prints curated by New York anarchist artist Josh MacPhee.
'Art + Anarchy Montreal 2007' will also host a series of art events, including a panel discussion with anarchist artists, book launches, lectures (including one by noted international art critic John K. Grande, May 6),
films, a Situationist night (with a participant from the May 1968 Paris uprising), workshops, and books & prints for sale.

ART + ANARCHIE MONTRÉAL 2007
La plus grande exposition d'art visuel engagé, 3 mai au 13 mai 2007
La toute première édition de l'exposition Art + Anarchie de Montréal 2007 mettra en avant scène le travail de plus de 200 artistes visuels socialement et politiquement engagés de partout dans le monde avec des événements associés, du 3 mai au 13 mai, au 6750, de l'Esplanade . Regardez le calendrier en bas.
Art + Anarchie de Montréal 2007 prendre place dans un vaste espace de 5,000 pieds carrés. Elle dévoilera plus de 300 oeuvres - de photographies, d'installations, de peintures, de sculptures, de croquis, de courtes vidéos, de cartoons, réalisés par plus de 30 artistes venant de Montréal, du Canada, des États-Unis et d'ailleurs. Les pièces complètent une exposition itinérante de 174 estampes politiquement et socialement engagées d'artistes internationaux, intitulée 'Paper Politics,' qui a été mise sur pied par le curateur, artiste et anarchiste New-Yorkais Josh MacPhee.
Pendant toute l'exposition il y aura aussi des évènements artistiques spéciaux tels conférence et table ronde entre les différents artistes sur le thème de l'art et l'anarchisme, des lancements de livres dont celui du très attendu critique d'art John K Grande (6 mai, Dialogues in Diversity: Art from Marginal to Mainstream), de courts films sur l'art et l'anarchie et une conférence multi-média avec une participante des évènements de mai '68 à Paris, l'auteur/artiste Angéline Neveu.
Art + Anarchie Montréal 2007 est intégrée au programme du Festival de l'anarchie qui aura lieu tout le mois de mai avec, notamment, la 8ème édition du Salon du livre anarchiste de Montréal.

I'll be doing a demo as well as displaying my work in the MATRIX gallery at the Berkeley Art Museum on March 20th. If anyone wants to hang out its going to be from 11am-3pm.
After the event, Gather is playing their last show. That's going to be at the Gilman with Seven Generations.
Art in the morning and music in the evening... it's going to be a good day!
