Ashes in Order was formed in the Spring of 2007 out of a mutual interest in pulse minimalism, genre hopping, and anything-goes-improvisation.
"Asheville guitarist Shane Perlowin makes more musics — plural — after 9 p.m. than most people do all day. When he’s not riffin’ it with the likes of Ahleuchatistas, Doom Robbins or Mind vs. Target!, he’s doing the duo thing with musicians such as Trevor Stoia, Joe Burkett and, for Friday night’s gig at the ever-hip Hunter Gatherer, accordionist August Hoerr. And Hoerr’s just as busy as Perlowin — the painter-by-day also plays spike fiddle in Asheville’s most ethnic of trios, Soora Gameela. Put together though, Perlowin and Hoerr manage to shed their respective “other responsibilities” and create something rather unique in the process. That’s all well and good, you say, but what does it sound like? Think Guy Klucevsek meets Pat Metheny playing Nino Rota." - L. Young, Columbia Free Times
Come out Thursday around 8 to 78 Brevard Road (affectionately called The Brevard Palace) for an intimate night of sounds. Have a drink on us (wine will be provided) and a little bite (foodstuffs will be in appearance), and gasp/exclaim/hyperventilate over the musical stylings of The Judas Horse www. myspace. com/megnlinn, Body of John the Baptist www. myspace. com/bodyofjohnthebaptist, and Hands of Winsor McCay www. myspace. com/ handsofwinsormccay .
Then head down the street to see Ahleuchatistas and Kayo Dot at The Rocket Club...OK!

Love your top 4, very self-referential! Therefore, we must compete, until there is a "song for David Earl". It must also have that cool ethery ending thingy.
august & shane ~ congratulations on your name, we all know how one likes to keep ones' ashes organized. & as for bacchanalia, let me leave w/ these sweet-a-ruby-port words from baudelaire that tony just sent me, in an empty & painted-upon flask:
Get Drunk One should always be drunk. That's the great thing; the only question. Not to feel the horrible burden of Time weighing on your shoulders and grinding you to the earth, you should be drunk without respite. Drunk with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virture, as you please. But get drunk. And if sometimes you should happen to awake, on the stairs of a palace, on the green grass of a ditch, in the dreary solitude of your own room, and find that your drunkenness is ebbing or has vanished, ask the wind, ask star, ask bird, or clock, ask everything that flies, everything that moans, everything that flows, everything that sings, everything that speaks, ask them the time; and the wind, the wave, the star, the bird and the clock will all reply: "It is time to get drunk! If you are not to be the martyred slaves of Time, be perpetually drunk! With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you please."
ooooh, love it. you guys take the whole 'mixed-media-identity-crisis' genre to a new & magical realm. makes me wanna paint. high marks for the pronounceable (yet suitably cryptic) name.
