ASTRO -- Hiroshi Hasegawa

ASTRO is Hiroshi Hasegawa's solo project. He was in the band named C.C.C.C. which was one of the biggest Japanese noise group. Born in 1963, Hasegawa has begun his improvisation with his voice and drums. And in 1990, he made the group C.C.C.C. which's concept was impovisative mass-noise with very loud sound. The group became legend with the members Mayuko Hino, Ryuichi Nagakubo, Fumio Kosakai. Also he has begun his solo unit ASTRO with analog synthesizers in 1993 as well as playing in C.C.C.C. Now he is actively playing and issuing and doing many collaboration with other artists. His playing style is like drifting between the meditation and awakening state with electronics and still he is pursuing it.

1963:
Born in Kamakura city.

1984:
Began playing improvisation mainly with drums and voice.

1990:
Formed "C.C.C.C." for making mass improvised-noise.
Established "Endorphine Factory".

1991:
Issued "Cosmic Coincidence Control Center" as the 1st CD of C.C.C.C. from Endorphine Factory.

1992:
Performed in 8 cities in U.S.A. as the first U.S. tour of C.C.C.C.

1993:
Began solo project "ASTRO" with analog synthesizers.
Issued "Amplified Crystal" LP of C.C.C.C. from Endorphine Factory.
Issued "Loud Sounds Dopa/Live in U.S.A." CD from Endorphine Factory which was edited U.S. live recordings C.C.C.C.
Issued "Kingdom Of Noise" compilation VHS of various artists (included Aube, Incapacitants, Dislocation, Masonna, Seed Mouth, Violent Onsen Geisha, Solmania, Merzbow, C.C.C.C., Hijokaidan) from Endorphine Factory.
Gave 6 shows in 4 European cities as the first Europe tour of C.C.C.C.

1994:
Issued "Community Center Cyber Crash / Live In Pittsburgh" LP of C.C.C.C. from RRRecords/SSS Productions in U.S.
Issued "Test Tube Fantasy" 7"EP of C.C.C.C. from ANT-ZEN in Germany.
Issued "Moog Resuscitation" 7"EP of ASTRO from ANT-ZEN in Germany.

1995:
Did the second U.S. tour.
Issued "Live At AS 220" 7"EP of C.C.C.C. from Membrum Debile Propaganda in Germany.
Was invited to the "Taipei Broken Life Festival" in Taiwan as C.C.C.C.

1997:

After that, went around Europe like Austria, Switzerland and France.

1998:
Was invited to the sound festivals in England and Germany.
Issued "M.S.G of Electronics Wave" LP of ASTRO from Tochnit Aleph in Germany.
Issued "Acid Safari" CDr of ASTRO from Xerxes in Japan.

1999:
Issued "Rocket Shrine" CD of C.C.C.C (with Seiichi Yamamoto as a guest guitarist) from Test Label in Japan.

2000:
Issued "Bio-Galaxy" CDr of ASTRO from Tochnit Aleph.

2001:
Issued "Resonance Universe" CDr of ASTRO from Tochnit Aleph.

2002:
Issued "Acid Beach" CDr of ASTRO from Alienation in Japan.

2003:
Issued "Collaboration" CDr of Monotract & ASTRO from RRRecords in U.S.
Joined an Internet program "Radio Kinesonus" which streams experimental music by a media artist Tetsuo Kogawa.
