   About Atomic Amplifiers
About Atomic Amplifiers

Today's guitarists often ask the difficult question: "How do I make my digital modeler sound like a real amp?". Finally, there is a simple answer: "Atomic!"

Atomic Amplifiers was created based on a simple mission: Give musicians the tools to fuse the best of advances in digital technology with the sonic authenticity of tube technology.

Atomic Reactor Series

Atomic's Reactor Series amplifiers were designed by Atomic founder, Tom King and legendary amp guru, Harry Kolbe. A Reactor's specially designed all-tube power section and tuned/ported cabinet amplifies and brings to life the tones created by modeling tools, with all of the organic warmth and power our ears love to hear. With an Atomic Reactor and your amp modeler, you can generate the versatile, authentic sounds from dozens of different classic amps and effects and take them live to every gig, rehearsal and jam session.

Desktop amp modelers such as the POD, ToneLab, V-Amp and others conveniently mount right into a Reactor's cabinet to create a seemless combo. All the power and I/O connections are completed in the amps unique dock (no more extra cables or wall warts!). Floor-based processors like the Boss GT Series or Digitech GNX Series work equally well with Reactors - they plug straight into the Reactor's power section via a jack on the back panel of the amp. The beauty of the Atomic Reactor Series is in its simplicity. Plug in, turn the amplifier on and bring your tone from your headphones to the stage.

The Concept

The advantages of using digital modelers are apparent but even more so for the live player. There's an endless universe of distinctive guitar tones out there, yet to own a large assortment of classic gear, keep the equipment in top shape, and transport it all from gig to gig is unrealistic for most musicians. Digital amp modeling technology has brought the most coveted tones into headphones and studios everywhere. But try to take that sound live and the results are compromised...

  • If you plug a modeler into a traditional tube amp, the amp can't help but color the tone - the modeler is treated as just another effect in the chain.
  • Solid-state amplification is, well, solid-state - tight, compressed and sterile.
  • Going direct into a PA system just doesn't cut it - especially for players who rely on the responsiveness of their amps.
Atomic solves all these issues and lets you focus on your playing!

I love my 18 watt Reactor. I've had 50 or so gigs with it. Your amp gets great comments from all the guitarists that hear me play. I use a PodXt and run direct to the house through the effects sends in the 118. I wouldn't trade this amp for any other, except maybe your 50 watt 2X12. But, then again, I love the EL84 "sag"

Blessings,
Clay

INTENSE AND ACCURATE AMPLIFICATION

I had been reading all the great reviews and thinking about buying one of these little suckers for well over a year. I bought a 112-50 a couple weeks ago and I’m using it live and in the studio with a Tonelab SE and a Pod.

The thing Screams. Clean to dirty – from tight and evil to saggy and vintage – this amp continues to blow my mind every time I use it. I have had numerous conversations with Tom and he has been extremely professional and a proven to be a kindred spirit who enjoys CHASING THE TONE.

I’ve owned every brand of amp you can name over my twenty-year career and this amp is by far the best musical investment I have made in a long time.

Congratulations on a KILLER product.
Steve

I've had my Atomic 112-50 for almost a year now and get great reviews on my tone. Our band works almost every weekend and couldn't be happier. Just got a Line6 X3 Live and what an improvement over my Pod XT. I run stereo direct outs to our sound system and use the Atomic for my monitor and works out great. Thanks again for an amp that actually sounds good with the effects unit and takes little time to tweak and more time to play!....Steve

Hey Tom,
Andy Z's work is positively awesome and in no small part due to the Atomic Amps that he’s using. His guitar tone is superb in the song EuphoriaNoMore4Ya! I’m dying to get my hands on a new Atomic 1x12"! You make an awesome sounding amp Tom!

Warmest regards,
Mark

Hey Tom,

Just wanted to say three things.

1. You're the only guy I know who will pick up a call at 10pm to answer a tech question. (Hell - you're the only company that has someone answer a phone!)

2. The Atomic Reactor is easily one of the best amps I've ever owned. I can't believe that the sound is coming from a single speaker!

3. Congratulations on a great product!

Absolutely LOVE the Atomic 2-212! Thanks so much for a great product! Not sure that my neighbors love it as much, because this thing cranks! Ever thought about adding a headphone jack to save the neighbors? Just a thought...I know that you can easily take the disconnect the POD but some of us are lazy and would just as soon make the neighbors suffer! LOL THANKS AGAIN! JK

Hi Tom, My 112-50 arrived last fri. Wow man nice! A little tank. So it made my sparkling cleans that I recorded straight to pro tools come alive for the first time thru an amp, my litness test. The dirty patches churn like my Bogner or Blockhead with an Zair brake. I have many amps and I am proud to tell everyone about yours. Great match to the pod xt-live, I will need a second one for sterio, I'll be back ;-) Another happy customer. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. A great transaction.

PS We here think it is too in-expensive should be more like 750 @ 599 this is the deal of the century!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the add and your comment. The guitar has actually changed a bit since the picture was taken as it has a new Bill Lawrence pickup now.

Your amps really seem very cool and I am looking forward to getting one soon. I need to save a bit first.

Good luck and keep up the great work,
Denis

Hi Tom,
112-50 #00078 checking in from FL. LOVE the amp. Popped it's cherry at an outdoor gig (unmiked) and only opened it up about half-way. That little box can really demand respect. No one could beleive the sound was so big comming from a small combo.
