"Combining gentle, almost drone-based moments with atmospheric ambience and then balancing it with the melodic, friendly and warm guitar passages really works a treat." Smallfish.co.uk

"evoke a combined state of tranquility and intense concentration" The Wire
1897 is the second full length album from Australian soundscapists Seaworthy. Signed to influential experimental/electronic New York label 12k, Seaworthy have moved towards a greater emphasis on minimalism in their improvisation and composition of guitar, electronics and field recordings on the new album.
In the winter of 2007, recordings were made in and around a 100 year old decommissioned ammunitions bunker. During a three month residency with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority’s Arts Program, a series of improvisations, compositions and field recordings were made within the bunkers and surrounding natural environment.
As well as pieces of looped guitar and electronics, installations of field recordings played back within the sandstone bunkers were also recorded, using the natural reverb of the large rooms as a way of processing the sounds of birds, insects and wind through trees. Over 6 hours of 4-track cassette, minidisk and computer recordings resulted from the sessions and the processing, assemblage and mixing of the tracks that make up 1897 took most of 2008 to complete.

Seaworthy formed in 2000 to explore melodic and experimental approaches to the construction (and unravelling) of minimalist sound scapes from looped guitar, warm drones, piano, electronics and field recordings.

Some reviewer's comments:
"ambient-soundscape/feedback loops that sound like the Velvet Underground's instruments half an hour after the band left the stage"
"A highly refined sense of texture is partly what makes Seaworthy such a striking ensemble. Though their instrumentation is minimal - guitar, quietly crackling noise and piano are the primary components - the subtle, ever-shifting terrain that they create is at once intimate and panoramic. Cyclic Defrost.
"Seaworthy is a low-key drone outfit who weave textures not dissimilar to the heavy hitters of the Kranky roster - Labradford, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Windy and Carl." Drum Media
"Sometimes the sound just hovers in a kind of delicate stasis, like a blur of movement momentarily frozen. The resolutions arrived at are subtle but fitting, either in the slow fade of a continuous hum or the gentle expulsion of note clusters." The Wire
This wonderful cd brings you gentle, floating, euphoric drones from Italy. Dimenticanza can be best translated as "Overview" And this is exactly what the drones do. My personal favorite of this cd is "Transparent Lids". This is a must to have for the fans of euphoric floating drones!! first run of 50 copies. Cds come in handpressed paper with pieces of flowers.

"Reinterpretation turned to be extremely entertaining – as we can see, in the work were engaged the young as well as already eminent musicians. As the result they made Talking to Ghosts an original alloy of very viscous, deep ambient with soft and warm glitch." Pi Micron, Soundproector
Svarte Greiner (Deaf Center/Miasmah/Type) explores deep into a dark, mysterious and disturbing universe. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Earth, Volcano the Bear, David Darling & Deathprod, the music is draped in Lynchian mysticism and horror film cinematics. "The music of Svarte Greiner is practically perfect. It's like that sound in our heads we've been imagining for ages but had never actually heard." - Type Records.
The Sight Below (Rafael Anton Irisarri/Miasmah/Immune) draws as much on modern genre progenitors like Brian Eno, Robin Guthrie and My Bloody Valentine as it does from the more historic traditions in neo-classicism from Erik Satie and Olivier Messiaen. His album Glider has appeared on Thom Yorke's radar in making the Radiohead's lynchpin's top ten playlist.
His debut album Navigare soon to feature on the Miasmah label, Simon Scott (former Slowdive) is set to be a household name in conceptual music. Simon is the former Slowdive drummer, co-producer of Televise, producer of Seavault, and owner of KESH Recordings label.
