Badge/Button/Pin is the collaborative efforts of Gavin Lucas (G the P) and Nathan Gale (Intercity) in the realm of the humble (yet mighty!) button badge.
Their mission is two-fold:
1. To produce and commission beautiful badges (see left-hand column)
2. To promote beautiful badge design from around the world
As well as releasing limited edition badge sets, and encouraging artists and image makers to use the comments section of this myspace page as a gallery to showcase new badge-designs, Badge/Button/Pin is also the title of a book the pair have collaborated on which is published by Laurence King.
The book, published in July 2007, is the first volume dedicated to glorifying current badge design culture - and it will showcase work by some of the most in-demand image makers working today from around the globe - including Milton Glaser, Alexander Gelman, Michael C. Place, eBoy, Mark Pawson, Jeremyville, Jon Burgerman and many others – some of which you're far less likely to have heard of, but whose work is no less delightful. Of course such a book can't be a comprehensive global look at who's making badges today - because the scene is huge - BUT it's a start - and a celebratory one at that!
Each month Badge/Button/Pin will release a new pack of badges, either designed by us or designed by a collaborating image maker, be they a graphic designer, illustrator or artist. The packs will be issued in editions of 40 and sold for £4 a pack in Magma's store at 16 Earlham Street in Covent Garden. You can see the packs released thus far in the left-hand column of this page.
