@Big Green Gathering '07
With the deep bass and spacious soundscapes of dub, the get-up-and-dance of funk and the bumping grooves and conscious lyrical gymnastics of hip hop, Bad Science have created their very own brand of wickedness. The four core members between them play guitars, drums, bass, keys, decks, percussion, flute, sax, melodica and samplers, juggling instruments throughout the set to bring an unpredictable and constantly evolving vibe. .
The band was seeded originally in Bristol, blossoming fully when two of the founding members moved to Brighton in 2001 and started up their own regular event there. Feeding wild improvised sets, mindbending visuals, poetry, dance and free doughnuts to a growing audience, Bad Science cemented their reputation as an inspiring and ultra-energetic live act.

Since those early heady days the band has been travelling around the country playing countless gigs. This summer they've been busy on the festival circuit; appearing at Glastonbury, Sunrise, Shambala, The Big Green Gathering and Larmer Tree (to name but a few). Between festivals they've also found the time to play support slots for Ozomatli and Foreign Beggars (in Paris), and have previously graced the stage with the likes of Nightmares on Wax, Fingathing and Aim. Regular collaborators include Beardyman (the UK beatbox champion), JFB (the UK DMC champion) and the brass section from Bristol's mighty ska troupe "The Scrub", and Bad Science's music has appeared on a number of multimedia productions: most recently on ONeill's internationally distributed DVD "Vertigo". Their first two EPs were also featured on the cover discs of Future Music magazine.
To date, the Scientists have recorded and produced three four-track EPs:
2004's "Area of Consciousness", 2007's "Small Gods EP" and, most recently "Street Corner Storytellers". If all goes to plan, an album should be surfacing sometime in the near future...watch this space.
Mixing rap, poetry and live instrumentation into a Grand Gumbo of the carnivalesque, Bad Science bring galaxyfuls of energy to the stage, and havent yet failed to get the crowd spinning, leaping, sweating and smiling.

"Bad Science...really stamped their mark on the festival. The improvised set kicked off at drag-racing pace, with Dizraeli taking the crowd by the scruff of the neck, facing off with a barrage of eminently eloquent lyric and fervour - very definitely an erudite voice of dissent."

"Conscious dub hop combined with exceptional musical talent, Brighton based Bad Science are part of a growing troop of British bands whose live performance renders crowds insane and breathlessly happy.
They fuse ska, funk, dub, rap, politics and good ol' jump the f*** up-ness to immense effect; with a galloping energy, lyrical aerobics and irresistible funk, Bad Science are quite simply, f***ing great."
www.spoonfedflavour.com, April 08, cheers for the big-ups, whoever you be.
