”Ok, We’re young, rich, and full of sugar. Now what do we do?”
Fuelled by chaos, sweets & tea, our unpredictable live shows have taken us to such exotic ports of call as Brighton, Liverpool, Leeds, Barnsley (yes, Barnsley), Cardiff & many of London’s hotspots, supporting the likes of Kate Nash, The Hot Puppies, Das Wanderlust, Dirtblonde, & The Smears along the way, we’ve also appeared at Ladyfest Cardiff, and on Squirrel Records Nut Boppin Whoppers, Cherryade’s A Very Cherry Christmas Vol 2 Cds, and the Female Trouble Collective compilation, winning praise for their sugar rush pop from all over. Our debut Ep, “Fruit Is Nature's Candy!” 6 short sharp blasts of candy pop genius came out last November on Cherryade Records, and has been played on Huw Stephens' Radio 1 show, Resonance FM, OK Radio Bremen & Raadio 2 in Estonia(!) among many others! Go to www.cherryademusic.co.uk for info!! With a collective love for 2-minute, hit n run punk-pop songs CPA are the perfect antidote to boring, overproduced, 3-songs-per-half-hour indie -schmindie bands, tackling such subjects as screwed-up relationships (and what to do about them!), bad moods, loneliness, and the horrors of commuting, yet we still sound & look so cute & loveable? Expect the unexpected.
Here’s wot the press have been saying about us..
"Bonafide lo-fi which laughs in the overproduced face of punk pretenders, get some"- Culture Deluxe
"Punk spirit, great pace, incisive guitar & the kinda shouty girl noise that Lesbo Pig did so well, glorious, get it!"- Alex, Shadowplay
"(CPA) play classic Brit punk pure & simple.. Think Slits or X Ray Spex, Riot Grrl with a Sarf Essex accent., and all the mischief & chaos that made the Toy Dolls massive for 5 minutes"- Alison B, Alternative Magazine
"..lo-fi riot grrl punk rock resembles a grungier version of Helen Love, and mighty fine they are too"- Sophia, Noisy!
"A do-not-mess take-it-or-leave-it attitude- vital love-heart crunching DIY lo-fi riot grrrl punk fizz & sugar rush chaos"- Sean, Organ Magazine
"Utter shit in audible format.. This shouldn't be allowed"- Thom Curtis, Tasty Fanzine.. There's always one.
"Simply stunning, shambling noise pop.. This is near enough perfect punk-pop to these ears" Trev, indiemp3.co.uk
"Tenacious & damned feisty.. these cuties stump up short but bitterly sweet ditties of (from both sides of the fence) ‘fuck you love’ prickly buzz pop.. hints aplenty that these kids spend their free evenings around the hi-fi bouncing off the walls to the back catalogue of K Records.. Charging out of the traps with much gusto as though on some urgent life threatening mission to deliver spiked mixer shots of humour, sarcasm & spite filled angst, the Candies are not million miles removed in terms of sound to X-Ray Spex albeit scalded with the unenviable thrust of Sleater-Kinney & the crookedly insane bubblegum buzz of The Shaggs.. If that don’t slap across the head & jab in your eye in an attempt to rouse you from your lethargic listening habits then nothing will"- Mark Barton, Losing Today
Also, Here's our 2006 tour diary. Back when Mina was blonde & known as Kitty.
Apologies for being spammy, but just to let you know that myself and
the Pope proudly announce the release of my second album, Murder Music,
out now on Cherryade Records.
"Prepare
yourself to be modestly outraged - McCabe is kicking against the
pricks, and declaring homosexual cliche's bankrupt" - Artrocker
"If you like punk, you'll love this. If you're queer and like punk,
you'll spunk your pants. Ste McCabe is authentic and brilliant." - Boy
George
