Cele De (pronounced kay-lee day) is an eclectic trio of the Celtic / Folk / Soft Rock genre. Their music appeals to a wide variety of ages, cultures, and backgrounds, allowing them to bring a positive message into diverse venues. The band members are Olivia Frise (flute), Robby Valderrama (acoustic guitar), and Samuel Davidson (violin). Doubling as vocalists, this young group of excellent musicians brings a fresh energetic sound that evokes a spectrum of human emotion.
In 2005, they were selected ahead of 110 artists, winning America’s Christian Music Showcase and playing at Spirit West Coast in Laguna Seca, California. They have played with many notable recording artists, including Aaron Shust, and SonicFlood.
Releasing their first full-length CD “Mist on the Mountain” in March of 2003, they have since written original selections which combine Celtic roots with a contemporary blend of Pop, Soft Rock, Jazz, and a touch of Bluegrass. A sample of this intermediary sound can be found on their EP titled, “Fresh” released in July of 2005. Most recently, the threesome’s second full-length CD “To Find the Missing Part” was released in August 2006. With ten tracks of brilliant songwriting and undeniable conviction, this landmark album explores the brilliance of their originality.
Respected on and off the stage, Cele De has garnered a number of live television and radio appearances. San Jose’s most popular radio stations (including 95.3KRTY, Mix106.5, and 98.5KFOX) have brought Cele De in for multiple live interviews and performances. Along with these media appearances, their engaging live show has brought them across America, including performances at national premier music events such as the Cornerstone Music Festival (Illinois).
What makes the group particularly fascinating is how they came to be. Unlike most groups who come together with the purpose of forming a band, Cele De just happened. Kathy Kistler, now the band manager, was looking for a set of musicians to play at a small conference in 2002. Years later, we now know these excellent musicians as Cele De.
