Another excellent set with Durutti Column last night, especially the last number. Fabulous.

Think I prefer 2 guitars rather than guitar & bass mind; the latter is almost conformity!

bilge pump

Jan 29 2009 12:25 PM

..

BILGE PUMP have been playing their idio(t)syncratic rock for over 15 years. As well as songs appearing on 7" and compilations, Bilge have released two tape only albums and have another two albums on Nottingham's Gringo Records. Popular with the late JOHN PEEL (i.e. the best DJ ever) they recorded two Peel sessions and got plenty of airtime on his Radio 1 show.

Two piece indie rockers from Leeds, PIFCO, comprises Steve on guitar and vocals, and Mary on drums and keyboards. They write prolifically and have a CD album out on Run Of The Mill Records. Radio 1's Huw Stephens played it on his show and decided it was his album of the week. Not bad.

Dec 9 2008 8:00 PM

This Sunday 14th December The Star and Shadow market folks are teaming up with the Cluny to bring you a special Christmas market.

The Star and Shadow Market’s last event until March 2009.

Photobucket

14th Dec, From 11am - 4pm in the Star and Shadow Cinema and 12noon - 4pm in the Cluny (also on the 13th).

30 stalls across the 2 venues within 3 minutes walk of each other, offering work from local artists, emerging designers, photographers and craftspeople at affordable prices.
There will be free festive nibbles, music, hot & cold drinks at the bar and a very friendly atmosphere.
If you’re sick of the highstreet Christmas crowds this is a great alternative if you’re looking for something a bit different.

We hope to see you soon. Thanks for all your support for our first year.

Have a great Christmas and we’ll be back in March 2009 to celebrate our 1st birthday!

Advance tickets available from http://www. ticketweb. co. uk/user/?region=gb_northeast&query=detail&event=293318

This will be the only Dartz gig anywhere until Easter 2009, so don't miss out! It'll also be their first gig in Newcastle as a four piece and what with it being Christmas, they'll be giving away a few presents, 'cause they're nice like that.

Support comes from Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, fresh from their tour of Poland, and Hartlepool superstars Ankles, who are a bit like The Shins, but lower.

Distraction

Nov 30 2008 12:06 PM

This takes place this Thursday! See you there? d.x.

Distraction presents Kania Tieffer, a otter-fixated Chick On Speed cacking out pleasantly disturbed lo-fi fake nonsense r'n'b and vitriolic electropop with cheap children's keyboards, a battered old computer and an electric guitar, in an unmissable live show.
Support comes from sample stealing, tune pinching, melody wrecking a-moral wrong-uns and kings of nostalgia-core Radgepackets, and pointlessly hostile bootmash-noisewhore-wrongtronica idiot Dressed In Wires! Cor!

Only 4 quid in, kick-off at 8pm, find out more here!
