like leo kottke said, "a goose fart on a foggy day".
"Bit of a tonic for the troops here, from the opening 'Pearshaped' the warmth and sheer heart just infuse the whole thing, yeah, even the starkly observed 'Your Dad Sells Lighters'. Musically, its almost a swing kind of thing and pretty much a light and bouncy bit of kit with totally ace guitars, pedal steel and jaw harps, but it remains solidly English, northern England. All the same 'Pearshaped' is a warm, wry record with eleven beautiful observations of the human condition and the inhuman conditions some of us live in. I defy anyone to listen to 'Shipping News' and refuse to buy this record." - Unpeeled
"The startlingly accomplished singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist Neville Clay has the happy knack of stumbling across his muse in the unlikeliest of places, from the school-staff room to the market stall, from the health-clinic to the betting-shop, down at the chippy and up at the call centre. Football, lottery scratch-cards, the Animal Liberation Front, council flats, lager, Stanley knives and mail-order catalogues; the very clay, as it were, that forms the building blocks of English suburbia - its the medium which is the message here. His caustic, trenchant and bitingly witty observations are the musical equivalent of a Mike Leigh play; sparse, sad, cynical, frightening, endlessly amusing - and occasionally extraordinarily beautiful. Be Gentle With Yourself, Serendipity and Shipping News are like unexpected works of art found amidst scenes of dereliction, and at his best Clay conjurs up breathtaking poetical couplets out of the dust left behind: Theres nothing I want to take from her except the eczema on her hands. She drinks tea and smokes Bensons and thats all I understand(from Staff Room). File somewhere between Michael Chapman and Pat Orchard, but make a note of where you put it, because listening is an education in itself." - Ptolomic Terrascope
"blending low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . [it's] warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" (Zero Tolerance magazine).
Necro Deathmort's This Beat Is Necrotronic is released on Distraction Records on August 31st, but you can get your hands on it for FREE (on a 'if you like it, why not buy the CD?' basis) in all of its 320kps mp3 glory at distractionrecords.com!
hope you are well. Just thought I'd let you know that a band I've done some cover art for are playing Cumberland Arms on the 16th August ... Her Name Is Calla. Since you're a big fan of SWANS I thought you might like to see these lads. Superb live. Cheers, Stephen
Spaff! My jaw is broken, my hair is matted with watery jissom. I stand on the whale's tongue looking out at clouds of jellies, bags of dead cats. Water is pouring down the walls of my house. I make a feature of it. The wind blows upwards on the road by Heaton Park, my coat flaps like a broken wing, my gin and tonic has ash in it. Down on Quayside, the Baltic is being razed by spaceships with lasers. Jean-Michel Jarre conducts a choir. Dad microwaves kippers as I sing along. My time is almost up. Yours too. The whale dives into squid ink black depths. I laugh out loud at the silly sky!

Ehrlich is a small crater that is located in the northern hemisphere on the Summerhill's far side. It lies within a rugged region that has been extensively bombarded by impacts of comparable size. Ehrlich lies about midway between the craters Parsons to the south and the heavily worn Guillaume to the north, near the banks of the Tyne. This is a worn crater with features that have become softened and rounded due to bombardment. A pair of small craters are attached to the exterior along the southern rim. The interior floor and inner walls are nearly featureless and there are no impacts of note within the rim. The sun comes in through the midday window as we drink Grolsch on the sofa.

Dr Robotnik has entombed all the animals in cybernetic armour! I'm spinning around the Emerald sub-game while the family next door argue through the walls about whether to watch Blockbusters or Family Fortunes. Meanwhile in Longbenton, people are being born and buried. Anyway, the little plane takes off, my camera is loaded with film. Turbulence near the Norwegian coast throws me out my seat. I notice all the parachutes wrapped in orange fabric under the seats. They look kind of beautiful.
This will be the only Dartz gig anywhere until Easter 2009, so don't miss out! It'll also be their first gig in Newcastle as a four piece and what with it being Christmas, they'll be giving away a few presents, 'cause they're nice like that.
Support comes from Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, fresh from their tour of Poland, and Hartlepool superstars Ankles, who are a bit like The Shins, but lower.
This takes place this Thursday! See you there? d.x.
Distraction presents Kania Tieffer, a otter-fixated Chick On Speed cacking out pleasantly disturbed lo-fi fake nonsense r'n'b and vitriolic electropop with cheap children's keyboards, a battered old computer and an electric guitar, in an unmissable live show. Support comes from sample stealing, tune pinching, melody wrecking a-moral wrong-uns and kings of nostalgia-core Radgepackets, and pointlessly hostile bootmash-noisewhore-wrongtronica idiot Dressed In Wires! Cor!

Combining a Steve Reich-sense of guitar-driven melodic elements with an abstract, almost Trans-Am like dexterity, each song builds in intricacy and volume until the immaculate devastation of the drums kick in, taking off on a flight into a vast sky of loneliness.
