words from a kindly Irish man... ...on the show recently in Kensal Green:

"Last night, in a small, candle-lit room near Kensal Green, David Thomas Broughton put on one of the best shows I’ve ever experienced. It’s not often that I get to walk away feeling completely exhilarated but when it does happen, this is the reason I’ll make a two-hour round trip to an empty bar in a place I’ve never been before, night after night.

For someone who appears to be going through his set in a completely random manner, he was in total control, commanding a reverential attentiveness for a performance that doesn’t pause for applause. Punching the wall, rearranging the candles and bottles on everyone’s table, kicking over his own pint, using a tape-recorder to squeal and grind out a quasi-rhythm, banging his equipment in time, and of course, coming into the audience to sing…all in one brilliantly orchestrated movement of expression. These things may not sound particularly impressive in isolation, but it was the sensation it produced as you watched it all unfold together: to be wowed and transfixed in the most life-affirming way possible"

HUNGRY HUNGRY MODELS

HUNGRY HUNGRY MODELS

Miller Fresh Sound prezentuje:

4. urodziny HUNGRY HUNGRY MODELS (histeria lubi się powtarzać)
ft.:

DROP THE LIME (Trouble & Bass/NYC)

DRUMS OF DEATH (Greco-Roman/London)

SLAM DUNK & SPOX

Już od czterech lat Hungry Hungry Models wypełniają klubowe parkiety euforią, epifanią i ekstazą. Nie ważne gatunki i podziały – ważne, by wywołać radość i szczęście.

Obaj łączą didżejskie sety z elementami live actu, obaj w trakcie występów śpiewają – Drop The Lime jak wkur*****y Sinatra, Drums Of Death jak zły brat bliźniak Ozzy’ego.

„Jak Oni Śpiewają” jeszcze nigdy nie było tak ekscytujące.

Obok zagranicznych gości, z jubilatami zagrają przyjaciele z boiska – wrocławscy didżeje nomadyczni z duetu Slam Dunk oraz czarodziej gramofonów i muzycznej produkcji Spox.
Będzie gwiazdorsko, będzie długo i głośno, będzie niesamowicie i niegrzecznie. Lepiej nie mówcie mamom, gdzie idziecie 14 listopada.

David Franks: Walkabouts Verse

David Franks: Walkabouts Verse

Nov 7 2009 6:51 PM

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
    Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
    Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
    The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
    Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
    Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
    Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
    Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
    Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
    Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
    Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Hey!!, come sit down
Under the willow tree
Rest on this low mound
Let the time pass with me.

So here we all are again
Back down by the railroud track
Don't feel so long since we were here before
Same old tents and little more.

More,more each dawn
Nowhere to go and hide
Nothing to sell or pawn
Victims of broken dreams.

Now you gotta learn
From what you seen
Never were no saints
In the American Dream
Work all day
To make ends meet
Then one day
Out on the street
Can't pay the bills
Can't afford the rent
End up here
In a government tent

Here comes Godot
Here comes Godot
Here comes Godot
Here comes Godot!
Help, Help, Help, Help, Help, Help, Help, Help!

Here comes Godot!!

Grouper (US) has her latest – Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill – of three albums on Type Records. She has also been involved in collaborative releases, contributing a track to Xiu Xiu’s Remixed & Covered and four tracks to a split release with Inca Ore. Her other contemporaries are Belong, Growing, Tim Hecker, Windy & Carl and Atlas Sound.

Jasper TX (Sweden), with a hefty back-catalogue of releases on labels such as Miasmah, and collaborations with buddy Machinefabriek, is an essential domestic appliance in the household of conceptual music. He is comparable to artists Fennesz, Sigur Ros, Múm and Tape.

Intricate and atmospheric songsmith, Danny Saul (UK) performs with different combinations of musicians, making each gig a unique event. His forthcoming release is "Harsh, Final", and he also performs with Greg Haines as Liondialer.

Fieldhead (UK) music delights in tape hiss, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. He is also a member of The Declining Winter and Glissando. His debut album, "They Shook Hands for Hours" is released soon on Home Assembly.
