   About Fraser Fifield

MySpace LayoutsMySpace Layouts
"Fifield is an outstanding product of the Scottish jazz-folk scene who at one moment can blow a low whistle like Charlie Parker steaming his way through ‘Ko-Ko’ and at the next knock out an air on a sax like a Highland traditionalist. On this, his fourth album as leader, the in-demand multi-instrumentalist also shows himself a master programmer and beats adept. " Jazzwise Dec 09

"Multi-instrumentalist Fraser Fifield has emerged as one of today outstanding talents." Sunday Herald

Fraser Fifield is one of Scotland's most creative musicians. As a multi-instrumentalist, he is always in great demand to play on other musicians projects. The list of groups and musicians he's performed and recorded with reads as a who's who of Scottish Roots influenced music including Salsa celtica, Capercaillie and Mr McFalls Chember amongst many others. Fifield is both a Jazz musician and a Traditional musician - an unlikely combination perhaps but one that has developed naturally since his childhood, more explicable given the main instruments he performs on: Bagpipes, Whistles and Saxophones. His stylistic versatility partially accounts for his busy schedule as a session musician, however, when composing and performing his own material the genre tags aren't so applicable.

“It’s the interplay between intellectual construction, fleeting modal improvisations and sheer emotional sensuality of the music that makes this such a satisfying, and strikingly unified, piece of work”. Songlines (Stereocanto)

“Fraser has again broken free from what has gone before and cut a distinctive groove. There are nine measures of vivacity on this album. Seductive passion and driving emotion mingle with boundless energy and inventive improvisation to deliver a work of genius.” (Stereocanto – Folkwords)

"..an album that's jazz, rock, a bit folk, a bit dance - and wholly amazing." (Stereocanto - R2 Rock n Reel)
