Not since Melvins, Antiseen, Dwarves, Butthole Surfers and Agony Column has a band sounded so incendiary. Gaggle Of Cocks are writing some of the freshest, nastiest, most amusing beer-soaked stompers in years. Call it stoner rock, redneck rock, punked up metal, booze metal... whatever the case, it makes you want to drink one (Martin Popoff).
Gaggle of Cocks • American Trash • Screaming Ferret • This New York trio cranks out some serious, ass-kicking rock. When first hearing this CD, I wanted to rip the sleeves of my t-shirt, get hammered and hop in my '78 Camaro. The band's major influences are porn, beer, raping, pillaging, growing righteous mullets and Creed. If you are a fan of straight up rock, check out these cocks. (RP)
Gaggle of Cocks are acidic sludge-mongers from NYC, and their songs all sound like just-killed steers ripping loose from their hooks and crashing to the killing floor. This is tough, sinister riff n’ roll that brings to mind GOC’s triple axe wielding cousins from upstate, Brand New Sin, only with all the added menace of that biker gang they sent to ‘Nam to assassinate General Giap in ’74, and with enough poured-concrete heaviness to snap a mule’s back. Next time you’re in a murderous mood- and it won’t be long - tomorrow is Monday- then this is the record to rage out to.
The two things that will most likely make American Trash one of the first to be cycled into my regular collection is the headbang factor they bring and the catchiness of their songs. If I don't hear a band's songs playing in my head when I'm not actually listening to them, then they're probably not worth listening to anymore. Ever since the first time I heard American Trash I've had their songs in my head. As far as the headbang factor goes, you can rest assured that it is high. If you like your music dirty and heavy, then Gaggle of Cocks should easily be the next addition to your collection. (Farlus).
With a name like Gaggle Of Cocks, you know right off the bat that this trio is going to be slightly off-center. With the hilarious opening line of "I got a horse, and he's 44", you wonder if you accidentally inserted a Butthole Surfers disc by mistake. While the band retains their humor and quirkiness throughout, the music itself reminds me of Circus Of Power singing C.O.C. songs.
