FIVE STARS *****' - Rock'n'Reel magazine

'Inspired...imaginative arrangements and colouring' - fRoots magazine

'Dazzling musicians ...'Shadows & Half Light' represents one of the finest contemporary folk albums in recent memory. Unreservedly recommended' - FishRecords.co.uk

'An impressive debut, beautiful both lyrically and musically' - Bright Young Folk

'Will undoubtedly astound...such is its originality, power and beauty' - Tykes News

'Absolutely stunning...leaving audiences open-mouthed' - Net Rhythms

Katriona Gilmore (Rosie Doonan & the Snapdragons, ex-Tiny Tin Lady) and Jamie Roberts (Kerfuffle) have been performing together on the folk scene since 2006, while studying together at Leeds College of Music. Their self-penned material ranges from blazing instrumentals to songs which have been described as ‘heart-wrenching’, spanning all manner of subjects, to contemporary arrangements of traditional songs. Jamie’s dextrous percussive and lap-style guitar work is a visual as well as a sonic delight, while Katriona’s intricate fiddle playing shifts seamlessly from sensitive to fiery and back again in the blink of an eye.

‘Shadows & Half Light’, the duo’s first full-length recording, has made waves in the national music press, being described as ‘inspired’ by fRoots and awarded five stars by Rock’n'Reel . The album makes the most of Katriona and Jamie’s multi-instrumental skills – mandolin, banjo and even trombone can be heard alongside the usual fiddle and guitar, as well as guest vocals and piano from Jamie’s sister Kathryn Roberts.

In 2009 the duo brought their unique sound to more than ten festivals and supported, among others, Bellowhead, Dave Swarbrick, LAU, Jez Lowe, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and Spiers & Boden. To further cement their reputation as two of the folk scene’s rising stars, Katriona and Jamie were delighted to be offered an endorsement deal by Fishman, one of the world’s leading pioneers in acoustic amplification.

With the release of their long-awaited first album, Katriona and Jamie are touring more extensively than ever before and enthralling audiences across the country.

"A fresh and promising young duo... right up on the crest of the new acoustic wave. Check these guys out......now!" - Seth Lakeman

'An exceptional young duo...Katriona and Jamie are at times energetic, at times atmospheric, and always inventive. This is music which I would happily recommend to anyone' - Ric Sanders, Fairport Convention

"By taking influences from the world’s folky singer songwriter types and not just a narrow field, the Gilmore/Roberts partnership sounds refreshing and modern...with commendable detail and honest feeling. In my book this duo definitely comes recommended." - Joe Broughton
