Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts are an exciting upcoming acoustic act, blending contemporary singer-songwriter styles with complex rhythmic arrangements to create a new kind of roots fusion. With a wealth of original material in both vocal and instrumental genres, they combine sharp musical ability and considered harmonies with a fresh slant on today's folk scene.
Katriona (vocals, violin and guitar) has been writing songs and playing clubs around Hertfordshire since the age of fourteen She has an extensive track record of performance ranging from the smallest folk clubs to backing The Troggs at the Royal Albert Hall with a string quartet and is currently also playing with Tiny Tin Lady.
Jamie (vocals and guitar) hails from Barnsley and was brought up in a musical family - his sister Kathryn fronted folk-rock band Equation and now tours with guitarist Sean Lakeman. Since teaching himself guitar at the age of fifteen, Jamie has been experimenting with different percussive styles and tunings and his playing is constantly evolving to fit in with his own compositions. Jamie also plays with Kerfuffle.
As a duo, Katriona and Jamie are racking up gigs, reviews and accolades (Bright Young Things 2007, Young Acoustic Roots Finalists 2007, New Roots 2007) as well as being played on various regional BBC radio shows and FolkCast. They have recently supported Van Eyken, Jez Lowe and Megson, and released their first EP in November 2006, having already won acclaim from several established musicians on the scene.
"A fresh and promising young duo... right up on the crest of the new acoustic wave. Check these guys out......now!" - Seth Lakeman
"I love the CD - great, choppy sound...fantastic" - Steve Knightley
"Inspirational - Katriona and Jamie blew us away!" - Cathryn Craig & Brian Willoughby
"By taking influences from the world’s folky singer songwriter types and not just a narrow field, the Gilmore/Roberts partnership sounds refreshing and modern...with commendable detail and honest feeling. In my book this duo definitely comes recommended." - Joe Broughton

Well, what a waist of time that was :) I had to wash my hands before typing this comment because apparently they don't allow messages from people who have typed with dirty hands. I am however allowed to write nazi propaganda if I want to. Well that seems perfectly reasonable.
Hi Katriona & Jamie, it was great to meet you both at the Priestly on thursday night - really enjoyed your set - great playing! Hope to catch up with you again very soon. All the best Simon
