Buy Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts' debut album 'Shadows & Half Light' for £11 inc p&p

'Genius...simply too good to miss' - Folking.com

'Dazzling musicians ...'Shadows & Half Light' represents one of the finest contemporary folk albums in recent memory. Unreservedly recommended' - FishRecords.co.uk

'Jamie is a dazzling guitarist and first class songwriter, complemented beautifully by Katriona’s sensitive fiddle and harmonies... an act to check out in their own right' - The Talk Magazine (Van Eyken support, May 07)

Katriona Gilmore (Tiny Tin Lady) and Jamie Roberts (Kerfuffle) have been performing together on the folk scene since 2006, while studying together at Leeds College of Music. Their self-penned material ranges from blazing instrumentals to songs which have been described as ‘heart-wrenching’, spanning all manner of subjects, to contemporary arrangements of traditional songs. Jamie’s dextrous percussive and lap-style guitar work is a visual as well as a sonic delight, while Katriona’s intricate fiddle playing shifts seamlessly from sensitive to fiery and back again in the blink of an eye.

Their unique sound has been recognised with several accolades including Bright Young Things 2007 and New Roots 2007 and they have supported, among others, Swarb’s Lazarus, Jez Lowe, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and Van Eyken, at festivals, clubs and theatres.

‘Shadows & Half Light’, the duo’s first full length recording, makes the most of Katriona and Jamie’s multi-instrumental skills – mandolin, banjo, cajon and even trombone can be heard alongside the usual fiddle and guitar, as well as guest vocals and piano from Jamie’s sister Kathryn Roberts.

With the release of their long-awaited first album, Katriona and Jamie are touring more extensively than ever before and enthralling audiences across the country.

"A fresh and promising young duo... right up on the crest of the new acoustic wave. Check these guys out......now!" - Seth Lakeman

'An exceptional young duo...Katriona and Jamie are at times energetic, at times atmospheric, and always inventive. This is music which I would happily recommend to anyone' - Ric Sanders, Fairport Convention

"By taking influences from the world’s folky singer songwriter types and not just a narrow field, the Gilmore/Roberts partnership sounds refreshing and modern...with commendable detail and honest feeling. In my book this duo definitely comes recommended." - Joe Broughton

Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts - 'Susannah' - with Kathryn Roberts & Gerry McNeice

Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts - 'Middle of May' - with Dom Howell

Hi Katriona,

I will certainly pass on your details - great to link up and I love your music. Maybe, when you're next up, you could come and do some session work for my album when it's nearly ready (be a while yet)?

Take care,
