The third Glasgow Americana Festival has a first-class line-up of eight acts at eight separate venues – a testimony to its growing stature on Scotland’s musical scene. It emerged from grief following the sad passing of the hugely admired, Billy Kelly in 2007 whose Big Big Country Festivals attracted large audiences over the years.
The Fallen Angels’ Club decided to launch the Glasgow Americana Festival very much as a tribute to Billy.
Under its present format, terrific acts have visited the city including Mary Gauthier, Robbie Fulks, The Wailin’ Jennys, Crooked Still, Kinky Friedman, Jason Ringenberg, Kim Richey and The Groanbox Boys.
“The first year, 2007, we put on three shows, last year it was eight and this year we have eight once again,” “With the quality of acts coming through the city in May, Glasgow Americana is well and truly on Scotland’s festival map and will continue to develop year on year with the valued support of The Scottish Arts Council and Glasgow City Council.
“Enjoy the shows and we would be pleased to know what you think – please, feel free to give us your feedback.”
