For 6 years Halph has been at it now, and they keep exploring. The narrow introvert debut, "Answering Machines", was done not long after the two got together, and their second, "Ode to you", saw the band going both softer and harder, a result of playing live and rehearsing more, but still within their first year as a band. Halph was and is not like other guitar/drum duos. No garage-rock, no friend-rock, no empty spazzouts. Their latest album, "The World Is As You Are", presents them at their least subdued, but even then, they're still dark and drone-heavy with lots of loose open chords and a slightly atonal sense of melody. They've figured out what works for them without sacrificing any of their weird deadpan vibe and rock minimalism. It's a good meeting point, everyone's happy. The band's resent live shows only proves the point. This is one scary combo. Not in theater blood and clownsuits, but in straight from the heart, pure and honest music, played like every show might be their last. No setlist - improv all the way
