MusicSixties garage pop sounds. Psych. Folk Rock. Prog Rock. Monster Rock... As for the following, I don't necessarilly like them a lot but they (a) push a button or two, (b) make me laugh, (c) make me excited, and/or (d) are pretty obscure: The Monks, Dug Dug's (Mexican psych in jumpsuits), Arf!Arf!'s psych comp series ("Authentic Way Cool Sixties Artifacts"), Teenage Shutdown (raw garage power & ineptitude), Skyron Orchestra (Norwegian), The Prisoners, The Solarflares, The Stabilisers... I'll add more, as and when... Circulus. Brainticket (to whoever sent me this CD - thankyou; the most psychedelic album ever made?), some Popul Vuh, Aguaturbia (I have dreams in which I'm at an Aguaturbia concert), Os Mutantes, Goblin, Ruben & The Jets, Screaming Trees, The Beatles, Mastica, The Black Angels, Mega Purple Sex Toy Kit, Zimbaria (tarantella!), The Fall, check out my "friends" for more sounds I like...
MoviesLots. From the golden age of Italian horror (directors like Fulci, Argento, et al), to seventies exploitation (like Rolling Thunder and Satan's Slave), loud Hollywood product like Die Hard (1 and 3, not 2) and every subversive wonky piece of meat inbetween. I dislike the term Bad Movies when applied as a genre. Movies should feel right - or something - regardless of budget. Those movies that transcend time and place and keep on drawing me back include Two-Lane Blacktop, Bad Lieutenant, Fight Club, The Wizard of Gore. I fall in love with certain films; the power of certain sequences. They fire me up.
TelevisionA Ghost Story For Christmas and The Telephone Box. That's all I ever watch. Forever.

About me:
David Kerekes is co-founder of HEADPRESS, which is good, co-author of the books SEE NO EVIL and KILLING FOR CULTURE (volume two of which is in progress), and author of SEX MURDER ART. He has contributed to many VERY IMPORTANT THINGS and remembers vividly the first record albums he ever bought: Let It Be by the Beatles and Monster Mash by Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers. Too young to fully appreciate one, too grown up to like much of the other.

CLUB HELL PRESENTS:
F*CK GLASTONBURY
Sick of wasting 200 quid at Glastonbury to wade about in muck on bad drugs watching Sting with a bunch of hippies?
There is an alternative.
And it's better than suicide.
You would be silly not to take it.
It is Club Hell.
It's The Party At The End Of The Line.

HEAT FROM A DEADSTAR
"Spooky guitars morph into the sound of crying monsters, and twisty time signatures barrage their way through brick walls...brings to mind My Bloody Valentine or the ethereality of early Mogwai. Currently holed up in Steve Albini’s studio in Chicago, HFADS are potentially stratospheric."
God Is In The TV
"Deadstar is a repository for all the emotions we don't know how to put into words... "
Etherised Zine

THE SUICIDAL BIRDS
PONY PACK
Two explosive Dutch girl bands. They are not like The Spice Girls. They are very angry about something. They could have easily taken out Courtney Love back in the day.
If you missed early Hole/The Breeders/Veruca Salt/the Riot Grrrl thing the first time 'round, see this. Or find 'em in Holland; last London show.

MARCIA MELLO A busking girl and her guitar playing ragtime pre-war blues from Provincetown, Massachusetts. Covers of people like Memphis Minnie, Blind Blake  and Blind Lemon Jefferson...
"One of the best guitarists I've ever heard" - Nick Marsh (Urban Voodoo Machine/Flesh For Lulu)

DJ: KAMIKAZE U.T. (Corn Rocket Club: Badass Punk Rock n'Roll)
+ BEN HELL (Go-Go Mariachi Surf Garage Nonsense)..
