Just me, my good self and I. But along the way I've had some very talented guest vocalists whom I've been blessed to have worked with. And I'm always on the look out for more, so hit me up if you got the goods!
Influences
Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, Jazzanova, Domu, Kaidi Tatham, Bugz, Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, George Benson, Curtis Mayfield, Dudley Perkins - the list goes on, but all REAL music basically...
My remix of the Stee Downes tune 'Put a little love in my soul' is out now on a limited edition Sonar Kollektiv 12".
Also featuring the extended version of 'What's wrong with groovin', plus 2 more remixes by Diesler and Simbad. Head over to the SK site to check it out.
My remix of Beatspoke's 'We don't see' (check the player) is out now on Inphusion Records, and is available at the following places:
I've spent the last while producing a new album by Stee Downes. It'll be out on Sonar Kollektiv on October 20th, and it's titled 'All in a day'. All instruments were played by myself and Stee, and I did the final mixdowns too, which was a first for me so I learnt a hell of a lot from it! If you want to find out more about it, head over to Stee's myspace page for a peak at some of the tracks.
| About Me |
Born in the UK to an Irish mum and an English Dad in 1977. Moved to Ireland at 14, bought my first guitar at 15 and got really into heavy metal for a while - had all that tapping shit down until I realised it was a pile of shite!
Then I found some crazy soul and funk records in my mums collection and got hooked. Lot of early Santana, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, The Fatback Band. Then got given 'Mulligan meets Monk' by my Grandmother who found it on top of somebody's wardrobe, and got bit by the Jazz bug bigtime.
Whilst living in Dublin, around 1998, I attended a MIDI workshop, just as a favour to a friend, and got blown away by what you could do with a PC and a sampler. Got myself kitted out with an Akai S950 and a PC.
After a while, got bored with Dublin and moved to Amsterdam in 2001 - a wicked place to live - still got big love for it. Then came on a holiday to Croatia in 2003 and fell in love with the place so stayed. My Irish skin aint too happy though...
I've tried a lot of different gear & loads of different software, but now pretty much settled on Cubase, Fruityloops, an MPC1000, my Rhodes, my bass, guitar, and my latest toy - a Hohner D6 clavinet. Ooooh yeah! Plus all those old stomp boxes I bought in my guitaring days are coming in handy now...
Hope you like my stuff...I've still a lot to learn but that's what keeps it interesting. P.S. I'm not into this random friend collecting shit. If you'd like to add me to your list, introduce yourself first :o)
Hey what's up? I want to thank you for being supportive of independent music, and hiphop with a real message. Most people have blinders on, and will only really give it a shot if they hear it on the radio or on TV, but some of the best music, and definitely the best messages in music, come from independent artists who might only be known in the underground.
I wanted to take time out to personally thank you, and if you have heard some of my material by now, let me know what you think. I am not going to spam your page up with any sort of music player or big huge HTML comments, I am just going to leave you a link to my official website so that you can check it out when you have time. The page has an area on the homepage where you can sign up for my mailing list, or online street team, and it has FREE music on the Downloads page, along with all of my contact information on the Contact page. There you can find my messenger names, XBOX Live! and PS3 names, and my email address. Keep in touch, be supportive, and be a friend... not just another number on my "friends list". Thank YOU! -Knowledge
Please take a moment to support Beatspoke and vote for us in the category of best 1st album for the Hangtime 2009 Awards at Radio Grenouille (Marseille).
