Classical and modern. There is no genre of music which James does not to some degree like, apart from possibly over produced Nashville-country, which even than has the odd moment.
Movies
Has an obession with films set in the 17th and 18th centuries; 'The Draughtsman's Contract', 'Barry Lyndon' and 'Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle' are particular favourites. Also fond of the bit in Ace Ventura II when Jim Carrey comes out of the rhino.

Books
James has been bowled over by many early modern German language authors: Franz Kafka, Arthur Schnitzler, Elias Cannetti. He derives pure pleasure from reading Saul Bellow and Henry James.

About me: James Harris is a 26 year old British citizen currently resident in Freiburg. He is a translator and author.
He is a member of the multi-national comedy group 'My English Class' (see friend link below). He also runs a mixed German/English comedy night by the name of Kafka Comedy; the next event takes place on February 14th, 2008.
He recently made a return to live stand up after a pause of seven months.
His short stories feature in the first two issues of Bordercrossing literary magazine, NUTS, 'Scenario' magazine and the May Anthologies 2003. He currently has three unpublished stories and a novel on his desk. He is also currently helping research a short history of German comedy along with Dr. Chris Ritchie of Southampton Solent University, for which they are seeking funding.
With the help of 'My English Class' and friends, he directed the hit musical 'The Prison Sex Show' at the English Theatre Berlin in January 2008.
He earns his money by teaching English, copy-editing and translating technical documents from German into English. Er spricht fließend Deutsch (his greatest achievement) and considers Germans who refuse to speak it with him the rudest of creatures. So don't do it, please - to me or anyone else. It ain't polite, it's arrogant, and you wouldn't like it if it happened to you lot: Selbstkolonisierung ist das.
He has recently resumed his football career but has gradually abandoned his dream of turning pro.
His great passion in life is learning foreign languages, and as well as good Hochdeutsch (and a little Schwäbish) he speaks intermediate French, and basic Russian and Dutch.
After a wonderful semester at the University of Freiburg in Breisgau, he is planning a move to a bigger city and a return to the stage sooner rather than later. He also plans to start a German language blog at some point this year.
