THE BEASTS OF BOURBON
The Beasts of Bourbon grew from simply being a side project to become a true supergroup of the Australian pub rock scene. Tex Perkin's (from The Cruel Sea) will front the widely influential and critically acclaimed group right after their popular European tour. Their music is a tough amalgam of country music, blues, rock and roll and punk parsed through the garage sound of The Stooges and the mayhem of Australian pub rock.
KEV CARMODY
Kev Carmody's first album, Pillars of Society, was released in 1989 and drew heavily upon country music and folk music styles. Australian Rolling Stone described the record as "the best album ever released by an Aboriginal musician and arguably the best protest album ever made in Australia". In subsequent recordings he has adopted a broad range of music styles from reggae to rock and roll. Carmody regularly tours Australia and internationally and is highly regarded by audiences and critics.
INDIGENOUS INTRUDAZ
The Indigenous Intrudaz are a 3 piece Hip Hop group that formed in high school in Brisbane. The bands lyrics carry a message of empowerment and encouragement to young people especially those who are in similar circumstances whoever you are and wherever you may be. The inspiration for their unique style of lyrics comes from everyday life in their community, the struggles and issues that young people face today, as well as the history and revival Indigenous culture. in 2005, the band were voted Australia's "Best Indigenous Hip Hop Group" at the Musicoz Awards.
BANAWURUN
2006 has been a great year for TROY n TREVELYN & THE TRIBE and a solid indication of great things to come. For those of our loyal fans and new supporters around the country and abroad who have voted us the BAND OF THE YEAR at the 2006 Deadly Awards- YAWI (yes)! We have achieved this success through you and we truly honour your contribution and belief towards our cause- "yala dajadaba" (thankyou) As for our future plans, we are currently in the pre production phase of getting our debut album sorted for early 2007, and we eagerly await the opportunity to tour the country with the album in tow. On that note, we thought now would be a better time than ever to release a new band name to go along with the new album. TROY n TREVELYN have received permission from Troy's Uncle (Mugai Qawanji) of the Kuku Yalanji people to use the name "BANAWURUN" meaning "RUNNING WATER". We are absolutely honoured to receive this title and we hope you will help spread the message. Stay strong our beautiful bama and again thankyou. We'll see you soon. DICK DESERT & THE SHOTGUN COUNTRY CLUB
In a few short years Dick Desert has travelled as far a field as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the red light district of Paris performing from small bohemian venues to the largest of music festivals such as The Big Day Out, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Straight out of Brisbane Festival, Valley Fiesta, The Nimbin Mardi Grass & The Dreaming Festival. Dick’s all star punk country band The Shotgun Country Club have added even more umph to Dick's live shows and have been causing a huge stir in their current home of Brisbane since their inaugural performance on the main stage at Valley Fiesta 2006. With Kaustic Kev’s mouth organ and mandolin madness, jazz drumming legend Bubbunj weilding the sticks, long lost brother Mick Desert on lead and slide guitar and the newest addition to the band Joey Jailbreak on doublebass, have created a combined sound cementing themselves at the forefront of contemporary, avante garde and alternative country music.
