Pope of Harvard University. He has studied the issue for decades, is a Professor
of Psychiatry and Director of the Biological Psychiatry Laboratory at Harvard
University.
In a report by Columbia Law School Professor's James S. Liebman
and Jeffrey Fagan titled, "A Broken System" it is well documented
that less than 5% if policeman are responsible for well over
half of the complaints of police brutality.
The vast majority of policeman are heroes that risk their
lives to serve and protect.
While I mean no "disrespect", the police appear
to be exhibiting the morality of "corporate america"
and have been allowing the 5% to give the entire group
a "bad rep", in some segments of society. Some of which
does appear to be deserved, considering "Silence Equals
Consent", from the 95%.

What if mental illness and depression can be the result of multiple factors
?
Could everyone be looking for a "magic bullet",
when we need the "mystical combination", in each individual case?
From my experiences, it seems to me that the vast majority of psychiatrists
believe the only thing really needed is the "right medication"?
The movie "Super Size Me" is a must see, with that regard. But diet and nutrition
are only "factors" and not the entire "cause of such an effect", as depression.
In my mind, only taking medication is like trying to tune a 1971 Ford truck
by gapping the spark-plugs and ignoring every thing else.
Just the reactions from various toxic exposures is very complex. So I'll simplify
this with what I call "the Toxic Lotto Explanation".
First, let me remind you that my blog titled "Toxic Victim or Mentally Ill",
links to a peer
reviewed medical journal that shows most mental illness is now from environmental
chemical exposures, rather than genetic. If it were only that simple.
To simplify the complexity of the controversy (14),
I will give the "Toxic Lotto" example, in a moment. But it requires
a small "set up", or quick overview.
Bill Moyers of the Public Broadcasting System did a show with a web page named
"Trade
Secrets".. There is to much documentation there to list, in regard to
"industry" covering up the damage to OUR HEALTH from toxic chemicals, for over
fifty years. While they have paid out millions to "cover it up", they
spend far more in campaign contributions. And that's resulted in a "cap
in liability suits", as described later on this page. With the "role
call of votes", linked in. There has been a conspicuous absence of criminal
charges for deaths resulting from even blatant examples, like Firestone Tires,
GM gas tanks.
Other examples of such "Red
Collar Crimes" are movies like Erin "Brockovich"
and "Class Action". Red Collar Crimes because the people, not even
the corporations, are charged with reckless homicide. Not even "a failure
in a duty to rescue" (a criminal charge in California).
Enough of the "set up".
The Toxic Lotto:
The Public Broadcast show "Trade
Secrets" from Bill Moyers did document over 50 years of industry paying
out millions to cover up the toxic chemicals that have hurt so many people.
But he was also tested for over 800 chemicals and over 80 were found in him.
The various chemical reactions amount to more variations that the pick six lotto
.... in one patient.
Bill Moyers was tested for over 800 toxic chemicals and over 80 chemicals
(at various levels of exposure) were found, in him (26).
That presents the potential for more viable chemicals reaction variations than
the pick six lottery in one patient from the perspective of LDCETC's ! But regardless
of this, many of the "tolerable levels of exposure" to a (singular) toxic chemical
have been fraudulently produced for decades.
But it is well documented in the book "Toxic Deception (81)
that they have known this since the 1970's. In the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's,
Industrial Bio-Test Laboratories (IBT) performed about 35-40% of all U.S. Toxicology
testing. Of the 867 audits of IBT performed by the FDA under the 1962 law, 618
were found to be invalid because of numerous discrepancies between the study
conduct and data. FDA flexed its muscles and found four IBT managers guilty
of fraud." Yet the EPA has still been accepting these "studies" that are financed

Now if that was not bad enough, it gets even worse.
A Congressional Report states that of the 1,400 chemicals known to cause cancer,
less than 6% are tracked (145B).
The huge transnational companies that produce toxic chemicals found in pesticides,
herbicides and industrial and household products profit not only from the sale
of these products, but also from the symptoms and chronic illnesses that they
can trigger (157).
Because the testing for toxic chemicals in mentally ill patients has not been
done, I can not say that the pharmaceutical industry is only treating the symptoms
of toxic chemical exposures, with out fear of a liability suit.
But they can not say that they are not, because the testing has not been done
(145B).
Now there is a business plan, called "Poison for Profit" (157). If the reactions
of prescriptions drugs were at least investigated for the reactions with common
toxic chemicals found in many people, I would have no real case to make.
We are told not to take certain antibiotics with dairy products, no grape fruit
juice with some seizure medications, garlic can interfere with anti-viral medications
and so on. The "reactions" are well understood with some of these. Yet, research
has shown that about 200.000 people die every year from inappropriately prescribed
drugs.
Last spring (1998), scientists at the University of Toronto announced
the results of a new study: By their calculations, the fourth-leading cause
of death in the United States is prescription drugs.They weren't talking
about drug abuse or overdoses, but rather, appropriately administered, F.D.A.-approved
drugs. Side effects, they determined, cause close to 106,000 deaths per year.
That's more deaths than the annual totals for AIDS, suicide, and homicide combined,
and equal to an astonishing 290 deaths per day.

Suicide was rated as the 8th cause of death in America.
With about 32,000 per year.
But that does not count the 85,ooo from Errors In Medicine
or the before mentioned 106,000 from prescription driugs.
In the entire top ten, those two are not mentioned.
Making suicide number ten.
If you dare to think of heart attacks and cancers as being from the "Toxic Lotto",
then the vast majority of the top ten causes of death are mostly ffrom that
"Toxic Lotto".
Including the homicides.
An alteration in the thresh-hold point into the "Foght or Flight Response" (suicide
- homicide by extension) brings one thing to mind.
If the "predisposing factors for an individual were altered, such as violence
in movies, I would expect this. As decline in homicides with a rise in suicides.
With out correcting the alterations in the thresh-hold point into such responses
ffrom toxic chemical exposures, I would bet on the end result (as an Environmental
Technologist that "has been there and done that").
But when the drug companies spend such huge sums, just for a presidential
campaign,
what are a few million in wrongful death suits. When you consider that the liability
suits have been capped by our legislators.
March 14 - A group of 22 experts on drug safety and regulation has issued an
open letter to lawmakers asking them not to reauthorize the user fees system
that finances the review of new drugs by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Even more disturbing is what is termed "the
revolving door" from these companies and their executives into many
of the high ranking administration offices of our government, in Washington
DC. From the National Institute of Health to the Food and Drug Administration
and beyond.
Depression can also be a symptom of "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder",or PTSD.
There are a number of "Suicide Prevention" profiles and mental health groups
posted as friends at this profile.
A book titled, "Trauma
and Recovery" is one of the best works that I have read on the subject.
It exposes that PTSD is one of the most common misdiagnosed problems, in mental
health. And that childhood victims of sexual abuse have the same symptom set
as combat veterans with PTSD from war.
Blogs about the environmental causes of mental illness with peer reviewed medical
journals linked in are posted.
The book, "Seven Weeks To Emotional Recovery" and "Seven Weeks To Sobriety"
list the nutritional factors needed for recovery. The author
Dr. Mathews Larson stresses the use of anonymous twelve step programs, such
as Alcoholics Anonymous, in conjunction with nutrition. The results have been
shown over a twenty year period with astounding recovery rates.
Not that seven weeks and bing, you are "fixed". When ever some one says that
"this will fix you", I can not help but think of what my mother meant when she
said, "I had the dog fixed".
If you have PTSD as I do, you will have to "Declare war for your own peace
of mind".

I was told to leave the hospital or they would call the police and have me arrested.
Having suicide prevention hang up on you does seem to pale in comparison.
My recovery is another story. Being that I am also an Environmental Technologist,
I will be posting the pictures that my eye doctor took of my retina that shows
the apparent toxic chemical damage that is causing my macular degeneration.
My concern has been that if I have been exposed to toxic chemicals that is causing
me to go slowly blind, maybe it has / was causing my mental problems. Since
I have taken this tack, I do appear to be recovering from the psychological
aspects.

found in fish, leafy greens and other foods, and Omega-6, found in olive oil,
some nuts and seeds, and other sources. A 1:3 balance of omega-3 and omega-6
EFAs in the diet is recommended by many nutritionists. Western cultures typically
consume higher quantities of omega-6 EFAs, because these are found in meat,
animal products, and common cooking oils, resulting in unhealthy EFA balances.
The average North American diet is about 15:1 and Americans have a ratio as
skewed as 1:40. The April 2007 issue of Psychosomatic Medicine reports on a
study of adults with high Omega 6:Omega 3 diets and how this impacted their
rate of depression. The research showed that those with a high ratio exhibited
significantly more low mood. According to Medscape, lead author Janice K. Kiecolt-Glaser,
PhD, from Ohio State University in Columbus, told: "The major finding here is
that yes, [diet] matters, and it probably matters more in people who have high
levels of depressive symptoms." She added that this study provides evidence
that diet seems to be very important in the way that people respond to depression

The "No Drainbows's" photo is in response to an ordinance passed in
Sonoma County California, making it a $500 fine and 60 days in jail for
camping 3 hours or more (being homeless). I had lived in my RV for
several years and "mobile communities" would pop up around me.

Thanks to Cohesion Marketing (Mellie Mel!), Ketchmore Kids has been put on to the Green The Block Initiative, along with the Hip-Hop Caucus and Green For All! The purpose of this campaign is to educate and mobolize low-income communities and communities of color to ensure a voice and stake in the clean-energy economy! The campaign is principled on the foundation that a clean energy economy can address the joint crises of poverty and pollution at the same time. We will be out in full force in Charlotte on 9-11-09.

(Sorry this isn't personalized to every individual, I'm sending this out to EVERYONE on the site) While I'm in the process of doing some 'friend cleaning' see blog, I thought it might be a good time to ask those of you who *want* to be here to subscribe to my blog if you haven't already. Not at all necessary to not being deleted, Just thought I might as well get it all done at once, since the process is going to take some time. It may also be a good time for those who don't really support the PTSD cause and/or don't want to see pictures or comments like this to just go ahead and delete, cuz I can't run this site afraid of who I can send what comments to. I mean if you want to delete the comment, but keep me/the site/the cause, that's fine. I just want it to be abundantly clear, if it isn't already, this is and will remain an MJ judgment/hate free site. You don't have to like him....just keep the hate elsewhere.
