Part of the problem with doing a "tribute" record is the inevitable comparison to the original recordings and the need to live up to the band's legacy. So let's get one thing straight: "Carry the Torch" is not a Kid Dynamite record. This record will never be as good as the first time you heard Kid Dynamite at the Manville Elks Lodgeand will probably not stir another reunion at the Church. What it is, is an affirmation of the profound effect of Kid Dynamite to current hardcore punk bands worldwide, even years after their breakup. Our hopes are that listening to this album will take you back so that you recall the feelings you did get from the initial listen to your first Kid Dynamite song. This is the bands way of saying thanks for influencing them to start bands and play music.
Conceived in fall of 2007 by Copper Lung Records and supported by Get Outta Town Records and Black Numbers, the record received a ton of activity off the bat, most notably the fifty plus bands who submitted to take part. After a small feature in Revolver, the record seemed well on it's way to people's hands. A few hiccups and a little settling later, the release is moving forward.
Effectively relaunched by Black Numbers and Get Outta Town as of right now, the comp features some of the most relevant bands from the original lineup and promises to round out the bill with some fresh faces. The record will be available in CD, limited vinyl, and digital download formats. Interested bands should reach out to fill the few remaining spots. The record will see a Spring '09 release.
Really pumped for this. Saw Fallen From the Sky last night and they played their cover. It was great. Really wish Crime In Stereo was still on this. That band is one of the best out there right now! Cant wait for my boxed set
already ordered the box set, SOOOO EXCITED about everything this record has to offer, maybe it should offer a tour? or a huge huge record release show to celebrate??
