Long train journeys alone, sleep paralysis, the state of the world, staying up too late, losing yourself, doubt, red kites, landscapes, mindscapes, sunrise, sunset, space, misery and loneliness, mystery, tragedy, disaster and nature.

“While this could be regarded as essentially a companion piece to ‘Missing Weeks,’ as a standalone piece, it could well be considered the album’s single most beautiful moment. Its dense, almost symphonic textures recall the likes of Fennesz or Eno at his most emotionally devastating, but the track’s glacial drift belies a melodic awareness that few ambient composers can match. Were its length to be doubled or even tripled, this track would still be at least 10 minutes too short but at a mere 7 minutes, its remains the most emotionally exhausting piece of ambient music you’re ever likely to hear.”
"Chang chih-ho loved to drink wine, and when inhebriated used to play his lute all night long without resting. One evening there suddenly appeared a grey crane, which danced round about him. Chang then took his lute, and riding on its back, disappeared into the sky."
Robert Hans van Gulik - 'The Lore of the Chinese Lute'
Haha - I'm glad it turned up!! Hope it wasn't as destroyed as the other one! And Yes! Under the Spire is such a great label and Chris is a nice guy, so I'm really happy with being on his label. By the way, I was going through the pile of releases I've bought (or otherwise gotten my hands on) this year and I think that Drones Between Homes is one of my favorite releases. No wonder it sold out so quickly - my copy will become a collectors edition, I'm sure :-)
Hi Dan, really chuffed you're getting on with the album and even better that someone else likes it too... I just hope we haven't sold out that's all (only joking)!
I'm reading your message on Christmas Eve morning, so sadly it's a bit late for a willing hand over, as I'm off to London in a moment for the beginning of the annual stress marathon. You are of course very welcome however, so if you're still up for it, just get back to me and I'll find a way at the earliest possible window.
All the best for the season and thanks again for your enthusiasm. It's properly appreciated, coming as it does from one who can.
i have some material ready for a split and maybe we can work on a track together. i might not be able to put it out for a while but maybe dead pilot would be willing to do it sooner. let me know what you think. we could get this thing going relatively soon. i have some obligations for the next few months but maybe it could come out sometime in the spring? again thank you for your support and interest. i am honored at the prospect of working with you. hope all is well. THANK YOU.
thank you so much brother what can i say? i'm an angry/sensitive man :p i really, really love your stuff as well if you're ever in need of any spoken word stuff just let me know i'd be glad to help
i've been listening to the album you sent me over the weekend. it is unreal in how good it is. how are you not on every magazine cover? in general, you make some of the best stuff out there and i look forward to your future releases. THANK YOU.
Okay - hope the other one turns up un-destroyed :-) I'm glad you like it! It's a shame about the postal service destroying things... but hey - what can one do.
So, yes. 'Sleep Paralysis'. - just beautiful. Astonishing textures, and totally immersive. I've listened to it A LOT over the last week. Thanks a lot comrade, an absolute pleasure. I'll say more when we next hook up, but for now, a resounding 'Fuck, yeah!'.x
Just wanted to let you know that we have proudly released a new Glitch/IDM/Downtempo album by the two Scottish founders of the Section 27 netlabel, Nonima & theAudiologist, titled, 'Almost Tomorrow'. The album is a dynamically crafted work of art, with constantly mutating sounds and textures, over stuttered popping beats, with layers of intricite glitches weaving around the nostalgic melodies, creating a unique wall of sound. The release is available for free download from our page where you can also hear the tracks!
hej dan, how are you? thanks very much for the feedback, i was so delighted to hear, you like "nach dem rauschen"... and i see, you really don't use last.fm that much. :) i hope, your internet connection is better now, or is it always crap? (that can be such an annoying thing...) oh, i just thought, maybe you're sitting in the library right now, but i'm pretty sure, you're not, most libraries are closed at that time, but until last year i'd lived in a smaller city in northern germany, and the university library was open until midnight, that was really cool. just me and one or two other people, i'd like to experience this again... sleep well, anne
Haha!!!!! That sounds like the strangest dream ever - I hope I didn't look too frightening! Maybe I should consider playing in supermarkets... Don't think the average buyer would like it very much though. ;-)
