TôM Watsôn III Arbor Vitae art by Tom Watson III currently for sale at We Care Arts in Kettering, OH and Jimmy Modern in Oregon District *STIMULUS ART SALE going on NOW!!! 18 Kas 2009 tarihinde devamı
Our first-born son - ALDEN - has arrived and is doing well! His full name is Thomas Alden Watson IV (fourth), but to differentiate between the two of us, he will be called "Alden". He was born at 4:27 am on Wed. Sept. 30th. He was due on Oct 16th so he was a bit pre-term. He was in distress, so he arrived by C-section. He was 5 pounds 4 ounces and 18 inches long. He has long delicate fingers, long feet, a lean body, blond hair and striking blue eyes.
His mother, Lyz, and he were supposed to be released to come home from Miami Valley Hospital on Saturday but during the previous night he was again in physical distress, so when his mother went to pick him up from the nursery, she learned he'd been put in NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit). Our hearts broke as we saw his mottled and ashen skin tone, his IV feed in his tiny hand and the oxygen tube in his nose. We feared we'd lose him after only a few days of life. But he improved through the day and Sunday afternoon we brought him home. Thanks for all your prayers and support!
Hello!
My name is Tom Watson III from Dayton Ohio.
I am a Fine Artist and a Freelance Graphic Designer. I am seeking a full time position in a local design firm or advertising agency. Dayton is my home. Home is where the heart is and my heart is in Dayton.
I am currently showing my ARBOR VITAE ongoing art exhibitions in and around the Dayton area and beyond.
The art series is based upon my severe brain-stem stroke and recovery experience.
I began a self-directed art therapy exercise to help me get through the long and painful recovery process following my near-death experience and the subsequent trauma and emotional turmoil. My "Stem/ReAssemblage" art series is created using recycled materials - symbolizing my reassignment of once damaged and useless brain synapses to reconnect in a new way to be useful and functioning once again. My blood, sweat, spit, and tears are a part of each piece.
ARBOR VITAE art exhibits:
In brief, my current artistic focus is my "Stem/ReAssemblage" screen print/mixed media art series, inspired by my brain-stem stroke 3 years ago and the recovery process ever since. The series carries the themes of recycling and regrowth from chaos.
In addition to my wife and I creating our first child, I have new art up in the Miami Valley!
About my art
In brief, my largest body of work is my "Stem/ReAssemblage" screen print/mixed media art series, inspired by my brain-stem stroke 4 years ago and the recovery process ever since. Click on the link below to read my first-hand account of the day I had my horrible stroke.
Long story short, I had a severe brain-stem stroke (one of the most fatal or disabling types of stroke possible) on March 17, 2005 (Saint Patrick's Day). I was in the midst of a University of Dayton design class critique just as Spring Break was about to begin. Needless to say, I had a lousy Spring Break.
Initially, doctors thought I would not live through the weekend, and if I survived, they expected me to be a quadriplegic. I went through a long process of physical rehabilitation, relearning to feed myself, write, walk, and eventually to drive my car.
I returned to the University of Dayton for the next fall semester and had to resume my unfinished classes while simultaneously taking new, full course loads. I had to take an extra semester than originally planned, and I worked hard to complete as much of the leftover work as quickly as possible. I graduated in May 2006 with a little catch-up work to finish over the summer.
On September 9th, 2006 I finally got my BFA diploma!
I am so very fortunate to have survived. Although I suffer from post-traumatic depression, muscle spasms, difficulty with walking, and get exhausted easily, I am persevering and keeping sight of my goals.
On October 14th 2006, I married Elizabeth (she teaches 7th grade English/Literature at a Fairborn, Ohio middle school). Then it's on to finding a full-time graphic design job and eventually buying a house and having our first child.
Life throws some difficulties at us, but we can learn and grow through them.
Jobs/work experience: I have had an interesting and diverse career so far. At this point I want to utilize my
two graphic design degrees in a good position at a local design company.
I have been an In-home health care-giver for an elderly stroke patient, administering medications/injections,
eventually through a G-tube; performing Physical and Occupational therapy exercises to keep the patient from

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
