Liam's Interests
|
| General | My interests...Many, many, many. You can see some in my writing (at my website).
| | Music | Baroque. Romantic, some Classical. Jazz, Bossa Nova, Samba, acoustic, some Choral - eastern european. Mostly I just like to sing in the shower or walking down the street. | | Movies | A few among many:
A Hard Day's Night.
The Philadelphia Story.
His Girl Friday.
The Godfather Uno e Due.
Les Quatre Cents Coups.
Blind Spot - Hitler's Secratary.
Downfall (though it's a brutal experience).
Nuit et Brouillard.
Festen
| | Television | The Wire, BSG, Rome, Sopranos.
| | Books | Oh my Goodness. Books? Books?
I can't even start. I can't. Sorry. Too many. Maybe later. Maybe not! | | Heroes | Me, myself and I. And James Baldwin, and Luke Skywalker, and...
I don't know. Not Margaret Sanger. She's not a hero of mine. Not Adolph Hitler. Not Joseph Stalin. Not Robert Gallo. Not, uh, Vladmir Lenin.
I don't know. Heroes. Heroes...
Heroes belong in books. Most people are just doing their best. If they seem heroic, then they're answering a call from a higher power.
That's heroic, I guess. But then, there are a lot of small, heroic acts. Being a good mom is heroic. Or a good dad. A good son. A good teacher. A good friend.
A good soldier. That's heroic too, though we don't like to think so anymore.
It's a complex question. If you accept that heroism isn't the same as a single act of bravery, but is acting in accordance with those deeper instincts, callings, feelings, things that compel you toward a goal, toward a purpose - well, then heroism is complex.
If not, then Indiana Jones. You know? |

Liam's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm a writer, traveler and raconteur, a vegetarian (macrobiotic-ish), a cook, a baker, (but not a candlestick maker), among other things.
I'm more conservative than neo-lib, more liberal than neo-con, more independent than either. Writing about politics, culture and hidden history.

Who I'd like to meet:
People, people who need people.
No, no, no, no.
How about, "I'd like to meet interesting people who like to talk openly, tell tales out of school, who are decent, considerate, kind, and honest. And funny."
