Breaking the boundaries of traditional soul, the Loose Change Trio (LCT) creates a vintage sound fusing jazz and funk with a genre defying theatrical influence. With the release of their first record, Unstruck Note recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver BC, LCT is poised to begin a rigorous touring and performing schedule. They launch their album on February 29, 2008 at the Back Stage lounge in Vancouver BC.
The band’s eclectic background merges the sophistication of a Jazz standard with the heart and honesty of a Soul tune, using music and story-telling to heal and inspire through the soul. LCT embraces a connection through an art form that blurs the line between audience and performer, uniting all in the spirit of love and community
Unstruck Note, produced by Adam Fulton (Terry Clark, Paul McCartney) and recorded at Mushroom Studios, is an amalgamation of lead singer/songwriter David Ward's history as an actor and classically trained vocalist, and drummer Greg Bevis’ varied past in Jazz and funk outfits. Reverently influenced by jazz, theatre and spoken word artists (Tom Waits, Shane Koyczan) and songwriters, vocalists and experimentalists (Jeff Buckley, Peter Gabriel, Nina Simone), Unstruck Note exposes Ward's soaring vocal capabilities and theatrical experimentation, along with the drive of their eight piece band that manifests energy, playfulness and creativity.
Previously touring in support of Ward's Debut album Never Meant to Know, LCT had a busy year in 2007. They were featured on the Vancouver television show "Urban Rush", completed two tours across Western Canada, performed live on UBC radio, and participated in the event "Music Wave Vancouver", a live concert in Vancouver with some of the city's up and coming Soul, Rock, Electronic and Classical groups. Not to mention the many summer music festivals.
Ward, "an exceptional, eclectic singer/songwriter who defies easy characterization" as dubbed by John McLaughlin of the Province, and the others, are taking their unique act to the world stage.

hey, manzilla. your tunes make obama look like an amateur bedwetter. i'd be inspired, i'm sure, by the sort of inaugural address your tunes would make. it would probably be in the key of awesome, or possibly c#.
Hey Dave! Looks like you have at least one show lined up upon your return. I'll try my best to make it out. And you have a great idea going on with the whole dinner party thing. I think you'll do just fine over in Toronto!
So glad Adam F got our mastering class to practice on your songs. Now you've got yourself a new fan! Will keep my eyes open for the next time you play in Vancouver. I enjoyed your show last winter. Tiana
Hey Dave! It seems like you guys are having a blast! I'm glad you are having fun on tour, and I can't wait to hear all the stories you have about the road. So you'll be back in Vancouver for Christmas! That's great news! So will you be playing any shows upon your return? I need my LCT fix!
Hope the tour is going well for you guys! I'm sure you're having loads of fun. Let me know when you get into Toronto and I'll get some fellow indie reviewers to come check you out!
Yes! We thoroughly enjoyed Loose Change Trio in Victoria! What fun. The six-piece band really worked - loved the horns. You guys are tight! I'm also curious to hear the smaller tour band... David and Greg, it was excellent to meet and talk. This was a musical and photographic highlight for me. Now, where to begin with all these images?
