Machar Granite are a four-piece alt rock-folk group based in Edinburgh.
The music veers between seething guitar workouts and delicately balanced acoustic folk; it is influenced by a wide variety of subjects and styles but the sound is undoubtedly deeply rooted within the remoteness and strong spirit of community frontman, Eddie, knew growing up.
The band have just released their debut album, "lost in history".
If you would like to contact the band with regard to gigs you can drop them a line here or at machargranite@gmail.com
Reviews and Comments:
"They had the kind of mellow feel of seventies west coast of America music mixed with the more angular feel of our very own Scottish folk music and were clearly very capable musicians. The sound in the venue was doing a very effective job of masking the vocals but, on the evidence of tonight, this is a band worthy of investigation." Bluesbunny Live Review, Glasgow; July 2009
"A powerful debut from Machar Granite....all music should be this honest." Ian Scofield, Leith FM; Aug 2009
"This band are like storytellers in the folk singer way but despite ther traditional approach, there is also an urban feel pervading these songs....."Lost in History" is rather good. " 4/5 Carrots, Bluesbunny Review; Aug 2009
