As a masterful songwriter, pianist, vocalist and producer, Mark is a man with the talent and passion to affect people. His music transcends generations with expressive lyrics, lush vocals and elegant delivery. With comparisons to Luther Vandross, Seal and The Winans, Masri is carving out a name for himself as a soulful musician with timeless appeal.
The foundation of Mark’s artistry digs deep into his childhood influences when he began singing in his church choir. Mark’s talent was considered way beyond his years, and he was immediately embraced by the gospel community. In 2000, Mark released his debut self-titled album Mark Masri, which garnered a Juno nomination for “Best Gospel Record.”
Mark’s forthcoming album, See My Face marks a musical maturation that celebrates the full range of his talents. With songwriting credits on nine of the eleven tracks, Mark explores the power of human emotions including love, loss and everything in between. Recorded with the Los Angeles Orchestra, the record blends a majestic quality with intimate charm.
Collaborators include songwriter/producer Stephan Moccio (Sarah Brightman, The Philosopher Kings, Celine Dion), Justin Gray (Joss Stone and Canadian Idol winner Ryan Malcolm). The CD was mixed by Chris Fogel (Alanis Morissette, Seal, U2, Sheryl Crow) and Frank Wolf (James Taylor, Carly Simon, Barbara Streisand). Arranged and conducted by Pete Anthony (World Trade Center, King Kong, Charlotte's Web). The album is due for release early 2009.
