Mark Twain Indians are an indi-rock group from Portland Oregon.
The band consists of four members.
Ted: guitar/lead vocals
Dylan: guitar/keys
John: bass/vocals
Joel: drums
In an increasingly crowded independent music scene, such as Portland, Mark Twain Indians have been collectively rumbling against stagnant music philosophies from the time they formed. ***** Now a days Ted is engaged to Suzzette and his family which consists of dogs and regular folks are dealing with a death of a mother, a mother of such great proportions.. Is this adding to the "art" of the music, no way!.. Its something to think about though .. .. With a new member to the band ( Joel) and his wife Dana, who is the coolest.. :) the band seems to be in order, or as close as the word order means I suppose.. ...............John has a new girlfriend ( Jennifer) and in the bands opinion he will marry her , he doesn't know that yet , maybe we are thinking too much :)... maybe they will "tie the knot" at the same time( Ted and John) .. .... who knows.... Dylan is the general...... in his own way , keeping the band on the road to great things , hopefully.. ( he is smart ) and has a lovely wife named Jennifer who just gave birth to the most beautiful daughter you have ever seen....... ( kids make you more creative , right? -- well ask Dylan about that -- he just might say yes.. ) Seriously though , not like that shit wasn't, but the band was born out of the ashes of Dylan and Nic’s (who is not in the band an longer , even though we love him more than he will ever know) history of musical projects over the years, going as far back as high school. Infused with John's experience in many groups such as SOMA and Feverpitch, and completed by the move of Ted from Oklahoma to Portland , which he loves so so so so much ( he writes the skeletons of the songs you know) for reasons of artistic endeavor, Mark Twain Indians was born........................................( we would also like to say --- we only live one time -- we all die -- its sad - make every moment yours:))
Mark Twain Indians have spent several years working on their sound, and are currently working and playing and working on a new album.. .. The members of the band have a wide range of influences. Common loves include mostly music of the indie -pop rock persuasion - Although the band is getting into darker versions of this genre these days- The songs still do not stray too far from traditional musical movements-- i.e-Radiohead, , Elliott Smith, Smashing Pumpkins,, Arcade Fire.. . While they love these and many other bands, they seek not to mimic them. They put intense thought into crafting unique songs that might one day move you like the first time you listened to Grandaddys' Sophtware Slump album and thought to your self; Where did they get some of those sounds? Wow! The band is just getting started on a new album called Singing to the Death March and cant wait to find the means to put it out when finished. There are a lot of great bands in Portland that will move you but if you take the time to listen you might realize that you have been waiting all your life for things you've always had but had no eyes to see..( R.T.)
The band has recently completed assembling their recording studio giving them the freedom and flexibility to create their new album with no restrictions. They are in the beginning stages of recording, and are planning for a spring release.

TUESDAY 8/11/09: MARK TWAIN INDIANS, THE VALLEY ARENA, OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN
“[SMART ROCK] Don’t let the riffage scare you. The Valley Arena’s new disc, We Died, finds the SoCal crew engaging in hard rock as smart as it is heavy: Tricky post-hardcore guitar licks are there to buoy cleverly jingoistic turns of phrase. Fans of bass-heavy ‘90s indie rock like Jawbox and Seaweed ought to dig the group’s smartly aggressive aesthetic, which grows in spurts with each release. And you thought nobody was making worthwhile rock ’n’ roll anymore. Psshh.” - CASEY JARMAN, The Willamette Week
