WSO Minizine:
Not quite a newsletter, not quite a magazine, our Minizine will touch upon topics that affect our daily lives, the people we love and the communities we live in. A quarterly collaboration of authors, writers and survivor stories, bringing food for thought to survivors, advocates and those wanting to become more involved in the fight to end abuse.
WSO Video Series
This video series (Wo)Men Speak Out was created by Christopher & Ophelia de Serres, in response to the overwhelming number of male and female survivors of abuse and their loved ones who are eager to share their stories and work together to end the cycle of violence in their communities and worldwide.
(Wo)Men Speak Out™ touches upon topics that are both sensitive and thought provoking intended to create dialog and encourage positive action and community reform surrounding issues of anti-violence.
Christopher de Serres is the Co-Founder of (Wo)Men Speak Out™ and Editor of Minizine, a WSO quarterly online publication. A freelance writer with a lifelong passion of the psychology and sociology, Chris has explored such subjects as the emotional and cultural impacts of abuse, gender constraints and recidivism in our communities. While much of his work serves his passions, he explores subjects that both educate and explore a more globally diverse context to include cultural variousness and the impact humans are having on the environment. During his free time, Chris is an avid rock climber and curious tourist. He currently lives in Seattle, WA.
Through her work as Director of Ophelia's Love and Co-Founder of (Wo)Men Speak Out™, Ophelia de Serres has a style that is uniquely her own. She draws from her personal experience as a survivor of CSA, intimate partner violence and over 5 years as an Assaulted Women & Children's Advocate. Having previously served as the Director of Operations for the Angela Shelton Foundation, Ophelia is currently on the board of directors for An Infinite Mind, Inc., a national organization that provides education and advocacy for D.I.D and related disorders. A singer/songwriter, her music promotes the commonality and adversity that is faced by survivors in a format that transcends the listener. During her free time, Ophelia enjoys writing, rock climbing, meditation and yoga.

Hello, and Welcome my friend, Thank you for adding, The more people coming together and helping spread awareness is better. You must be a wonderful person to care enough to take your time to spread awareness. I look forward to knowing you. I have triumphed over Domestic Violence. My horrific story is in my blog. Please read and feel free to post it on your website. I am almost finished with my book of my life and how I overcame DV. I have written most of it in my blog on an almost daily basis for the past Three months. To find the story of how I came to start writing, look for “THE BIG BANG, My husband tried to kill me then when he failed he killed us both” Or “My Story” It will blow you away! If you have a problem finding that part just let me know and I will get it to you. Thanks again. In Love & Light, Michelle Miller
I'm thankful for all good with which I've been blessed throughout life. For hardships, and for heartaches, too, For failures, trials and strife. I'm thankful for each little prayer Someone has said for me; For loving thoughts, for friendliness, For all good will I see.
My thanks for hands, with which I could Scribe someone on life's way; For all small deeds of kindness I'm allowed to do each day. I'm thankful for all happiness, Each long hour of deep sorrow; God thus in his great mercy gives More wisdom for tomorrow.
Inspirational Words of Wisdom for Reflection:
"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough." Oprah Winfrey
"Every time we remember to say 'thank you', we experience nothing less than heaven on earth." Sarah Ban Breathnach

The way we walk into a room says a lot about the way we live our lives. When we walk into a room curious about what’s happening, willing to engage, and perceiving ourselves as an active participant with something to offer, then we have really shown up to the party. When we walk into a room with our eyes down, or nervously smiling, we are holding ourselves back for one reason or another. We may be hurting inside and in need of healing, or we may lack the confidence required to really be present in the room. Still, just noticing that we’re not really showing up, and having a vision of what it will look and feel like when we do, can give us the inspiration we need to recover ourselves. Your Friend
Thanks a lot for accepting to be Sharlette’s Mysapce friend. Hope to hear from you soon. Until then, let me start off our new friendship by saying, "my name is Sharlette aka Lette. I pray that the space you have allowed me to share, be blessed…” See, dreams do come true! And that whatever you dream, can come true. So, as this new friendship builds. I hope to one day be able to say, “we watched each others dreams grow & come true…” Thanks again new friend. Enjoy myspace.com/MzFumbanks dreams & aspirations. Come true… Peace & God Bless Us All...

I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Now we’re going through an uncertain future with JJ as he remains in ICU at the animal hospital. Hopefully everything will be fine and back to normal soon. Thank you for understanding and continuing to be my friend.
Love and Blessings Always,
Sharon & Family†

"The Araya Family and Friends Benefit Concert For Anamaria Araya" is this Friday, May 29th in Long Beach, Ca.
Anamaria has ovarian cancer. We've organized this concert as a way of helping her to pay for her medical care, show her support and at the same time we'll get to play and hear good music played by many of the Araya family musicians and good friends.
Hope you can come out. If you're not able to make it we'd appreciate any donation you can spare. Thanks so much.
